...maybe these cats can give you directions to the right one?We've got the whole gang from Heathcliff and The Catillac Cats (or Cats n' Co.), the Saturday morning cartoon show produced by Dic. Based off the newspaper comic, Heathcliff. It ran from 1984 to 1985. (My facts may not be right as I wasn't there
) We got the whole gang, from left to right, Wordsworth, Sonja, Heathcliff, Hector, Mungo, Riff Raff, and Cleo. Honestly, I'm just happy to be done with this, I have 2 more related pictures I have to finish, but they wouldn't make sense unless this one was posted first. This one took a lot longer than it should have, and I just wanted to be done with it. I'll probably revisit it later, to tweak it a bit and add shadow. But, not today
Heathcliff and The Catillac Cats belong to Dic (or whoever owns that now)
Update: I've been told it ran from '84 to '87 and that the cats are now owned by Cookie Jar. Thanks for the info

Just wanted to give you points to improve on
Drawing many figures is hard so I applaud you for being ambitious
1. Your line art is rather shaky, I personally find line art challenging as it needs be so precise but is the major backbone to anime/cartoony art. I also use sai, try and use the edit tool (I like translate cp and deform stroke) to make it smoother. I also use the curve and line tool for parts of figures as well.
2. Once you've done so add some cell shading! Using the clipping group on the left layer section will make the shading fast as you can't outside the layer it's clipped too.
3. A a little bit of perspective, the tiles at the bottom should be more diagonal than vertical.
I know it's a lot to take in but please don't be disheartened. I hope it helps and I feel you can achieve big improvements with some pointers

I must admit, I'm still new to sai. (my tablet is also a bit shaky...I need to re-install it) I've been meaning to look up some tutorials, as I'm not too familiar with the other tools besides the paint brushes. Shading is also something I struggle with

I actually just started using this account again, I had left DeviantART rather frustrated with myself, as I didn't feel like I was at a point where I should be with my art. (my old gallery's scary) But, I've come to realize, I won't get better unless I practice, just pouting doesn't get me anywhere. So I really do appreciate the critique, thank you again!

I know exactly how you feel, I've had mine for 7 years and still don't have much to show. Also it was much easier to get views and comments back, Deviant is quite cut throat now and harder to get noticed so don't despair. I completely understand, it's been very frustrating for me to transfer to digital art and wanting to improve fast and not being able to draw what I see in my head. I also deleted a lot of old stuff >.< But yeah, we both just need to put our heads down and finish drawings. It's the experience that counts. Let's encourage eachother to get better
Also, for me an important part of improving is seeing. It's good you can pick flaws with your art because you'll be able to improve. It's a hard process but when you look at some of Deviant's top artists; a lot of their early works were quite average. They took time and practice to improve.
At least you have a background, I find backgrounds challenging and quite a few of mine are just white bgd XD

Oh, I'm not really too concerned with views, I mostly joined to meet other people who shared my interests, but sure, views are fun.
Yes!! I agree, I often find myself looking at my favorite artists wondering "what are they doing that I'm not doing?" and try to go from there. I find comforts me, like that they had to start someplace too.
I do that with my own work as well, but I find if I get too picky I never finish it, sometimes you have to know when to call it "done".
I don't do backgrounds most of time myself

Agreed. The last 10% takes me the longest, (where I find flaws and uncoloured patches). I've learnt a more to let go, learn and move on to next piece.
It's not just the views but I find it hard to find active people to interact with and hard to get comments and feedback. Maybe the groups I joined are too big...

I do look at a few lolita groups on tumblr, but I wouldn't feel comfortable posting my work there. It just feels a lot safer here on DeviantART.
