- Mizuki was still a little child, 3 years old, when she was left in the care of Jupiter, the rebellion’s leader. She could barely remember her parents, apart from the golden locket her mother left her before they disappeared. For 12 years, Mizuki was trained in the rebellion to be a warrior of combat and bravery by Jupiter. During that time, she’d have visions of her parents from her past.
- Jupiter first told her and her colleagues about the prophecy stating that Baron Draxum, the mad alchemist yokai, would control over New York City by creating an ooze and use them to turn humans into mutants like him. With those words, Mizuki became more determined to be a Mystic Protector and keep New York safe. On her first mission, Mizuki was sent to find Agent 64, later named as Mayhem, when he had taken a vial of ooze from Draxum. She had managed to stop the two guards, who disguised themselves as joggers, from getting to Mayhem and chasing him down to a construction building. It was there that she met the Turtles and April before they first fought off the two yokai guards.
- Mizuki and Mayhem were soon captured by the guards and taken to Draxum’s restored lab, where the pizza delivery boy was first turned to a mutant by an oozequito. However, after an intense battle with Draxum, the turtles, girls and Mayhem escaped from the damaged lab and head back to New York City. Mizuki then asked to join the turtles in training them to control their mystic weapons and help them find the rest of the oozesquitoes. From then on, they became best friends and allies, as well as forming a special bond with Donnie.
- While at Big Mama’s hotel, Mizuki was tricked into being aided to find her lost parents by Big Mama and was given a photo of them as a way to remember them. When she discovered that she was deceived, Mizuki became trapped in an unconscious rage and fought Big Mama, before leaving with the brothers. It wasn’t later on until she faced the Foot Clan with the turtles that she was told she was given the nickname ‘Emerald Storm’ because of a prediction that the bravest and determined soul that is gifted a power so strong that it could destroy the darkest of souls would help the descendant of the Hamato Clan defeat the notorious creature on Earth.
- She soon found and reunited with her parents in the Mystic City, where they explained to her that they were sent by Draxum after a three-year battle, and both returned to New York City with the turtles.
- Mizuki soon got control of her powers after she and the turtles were captured by Draxum as the Dark Armor was nearly complete, and barely lost them after defeating the Shredder temporarily.
