Description Here are the two main characters from my dream-inspired story, Brínnland.

The man is a hunter from a northern tribe. A lost child found in the forest, he was taken in by the tribe; but he soon displayed unpleasant abilities that led the whole community to dread him, as he was believed to be a demon. He remained in the tribe, but has been treated like an outcast ever since.

The woman is a witch who had to flee from her homeland to avoid persecution, since the heir to the throne is much less tolerant with witchcraft than his predecessor was. The dagger the witch is wearing is actually an athame: it has no purpose in battle and is instead used as a tool in rituals. The Arctic fox is her familiar.

This is an interesting idea for a story with these two cultures coming together. I love the outfit designs.

I like them very much! The hunter is probably a bit Inuit-inspired, is it?

It's true it looks like he is, but I actually wasn't thinking of Inuits at all when I drew his outfit. ^^ It's based on the clothes he was wearing in the dream I had, and they looked like a mix between the Sami culture and Northern Europe medieval clothes.

You use dreams for your work? Irbisty seems to do that almost exclusivly. She has interesting stuff, in case you want to check it out!

No, that was this only time I did it: I had a very vivid dream telling a whole heroic fantasy story, but I could only recall the beginning when I woke up. I built an universe from this dream.
Oh, that's interesting! I'll check it out

I once had a dream with sequels - when I woke up, I could only remember snipets of it. But I was always excited for the next part the whole day - and as soon as I was asleep, I could remember the previous parts of the sequel. I think, I once had even a short recap-dream like in a TV-show.
Weird, I know!

the story that goes with this sounds very interesting. I like both characters a lot, and I love the witch's outfit design.

I love those two and your story ideas are really interesting as well. I was so happy to read about someone who actually writes stories and creates characters based on dreams, just like me ☺️

And I'm glad someone else can appreciate and create dream-based characters! These two have such a special place in my heart, precisely because of their oneiric origin.

Waaah 〜 I know exactly what you mean *_*
Well, not all my characters are dream-based but I also feel like they will always be part of my life 😌

Wooh ! The style really changes from what you usuallty draw ( though we can see it's from YOU, soft and subtle ), it's amazing ! I really like the way your characters have been drawn more traditionnaly and without outlines, very good details ( hair, faces, outfits, you nailed it ) and very good work, i'm looking forward to future drawings like this !

Blunell In reply to Dimrond [2017-11-05 10:36:03 +0000 UTC]

It *does* have outlines, bro It's actually the other way around: it's my usual (painted) work that don't have visible lines.
Mais sinon, merci pour le commentaire, je suis contente que tu apprécies également ce style.
