Description Mineral(s): Roselite
Locality: Bou Azzer District, Morocco

2.4 cm specimen almost entirely encrusted with fuchsia pink roselite crystals. I originally came across this specimen being labelled as "erythrite" (which is a similar-colored mineral and is sometimes associated with roselite), but the small prismatic crystals in a drusy, almost glittery fashion is more indicative of roselite.

Roselite is named after....


...did you guess the color "rose"? Nope. The mineral is named after a 19th-century mineralogist named Gustav Rose. Fitting name anyhow.
