The two final in-game models of Kerrigan in SC2: Heart of the Swarm. Infested version is a slightly tweaked Wings of Liberty model with some new texture work and slight geometry adjustments.

I think back to what you said about her from yellow to purple. I wonder what happened in LotV, seems yellow is the new violet in her final form.

I can't be the only one who thinks she should have mutated into another form. The power of the primals is really built up and when we see Primal Kerrigan it's......the same damn model but glowy. Really? I can uderstand having some similar traits like the zerg hair and wings, but still there's plenty that could have been changed.

YES, this was a really real opinion the team shared. The reality was that the cinematic team didn't have time to redesign Kerrigan, and with so many cutscenes propelling the story, we had to synchronize with the cutscenes.

what a shame time limits always cut out good ideas :/... i guess there is no chance for a DLC skin/model of a redesigned Primal Kerrigan? (or at least a WiP design for the lulz?)

I would absolutely LOVE if Blizzard occasionally, once StarCraft II is 'finished', released updated models of cut units for the community to use. Obviously, that's not always possible, but a man can hope! Us fans sure are needy...
Seriously though, I can't wait until the next batch of these comes with LotV.

One more thing: I really wish more companies did what you're doing here. I'm by no means an artist, but I absolutely LOVE the art in pretty much every place I find it. Seeing the process that led to an in-game model being finalized is fascinating.

I thought that too, but I realized that they probably did this because Kerrigan's Queen of Blades form is highly iconic, and they have lifesize sculptures, posters, figurines, etc. of her in that form. When people think of Kerrigan they think of the usual form. So I assume thats why they decided to just make her the same basic shape, but with more... glow in the dark effects.

I pray that isn't the reason. Having her become more than what she was as the queen of blades should be shown a bit more than "Make her glowy."

at least it's good to not get out of balance in her zerg form with those huge wings at her back - when having this,. well.. good modeled front!
