Description Laugharne Castle, South Wales, United Kingdom.

Laugharne Castle (Castell Talacharn in Welsh) is located on the Taf Estuary in southern Carmarthenshire. The castle was constructed in the 13th century and later converted into a tudor mansion. Laugharne is also noted as the place where Dylan Thomas wrote many of his later works and may have inspired "Under Milkwood".

Wales is covered with castles. A popular tourist attraction today, they are also a reminder that the country was once subjegated by the Normans following their conquest of England.

Nice - I love castles, not too many in the States, but whenever I get to Europe I'm sure to visit several

Thank you.  Wales is the place to visit for castles.  They obviously took a lot of subduing.

My mother's father-line goes to Wales. He was a Quaker who emigrated to Bucks County, PA, around 1690. His farm was still in the family in the 1960's.

Cool castle! Here's your second comment

Seriously, I was redirected here from your comment on Heidi 's post . I don't think it has anything to do with faving from thumbnails (I never even knew you could do that, I always prefer to view art in full). I think most people are either just shy, tired (sometimes I'm too tired to comment), or they don't really know of anything constructive to say (as I have proved with the comment above - I really don't know what to say about this piece).

That is a cool photo But I'd be afraid to get too close to it because bricks may fall...

Many thanks! The castle is very big, so I was a long way away when I took this, quite safe I hope.
