A single survivor in a city full of monsters, armed with a single-shot pistol, what an anxiety!
The pistol is top-notch, is it a your personal concept design?

In my concept, the story is not about fighting monsters, but how to interact with the environment .

Wow thanks,my dearest friend! It seems that the pistol is a successΒ
The pistol is my design based on the combination of bolt-action rifleΒ and flintlock pistol, two types of firearems that I am very fond of.I think the idea is quite original, until I found this thing: www.horstheld.com/0-Dreyse-tarβ¦
Β Some one had made guns like this long before.Β

TheΒ pistol of the 19th century were so fascinating,Β Β they were a mixture of craftsmanship and applied engineering.

Ah,yes,I totally agree! Some of them have very elegant appearance, like the Colt M1861 navy, the Smith & Wesson Model 3,the Lefaucheux revolvers.Β

TheΒ Lefaucheux were great, then the 20 Round Double-Barreled Revolver
was astounding.

Can only repeat what others have said about the most striking part of the scene: The pistol is absolutely gorgeous - and from personal experience, can confirm single-shot weapons work wonders in survival stories.

Thanks so much,my friend,it's my pleasure to hear from you again.
I totally agree about what you said about single shot guns in survival stories.I think they can emphasis the powerlessness of the protagonist and embody resouce scarce, thus made the stories more enjoyable. They are much more a tool to solve questions than a weapon for carnage. And if it was a game, you must make every shot counts, there's much more fun than bullet spraying avtomatic guns.

Aye, single shot weapons in games not put emphasis on the resource management aspect, but they also reward planning and precision. The puzzle solving part is often overlooked in games featuring weapons.
I probably won't be completing them - since I started writing them there have been a few games released that are too similar - but pretty much all the survival and/or horror game concepts I've written are limited either to single-shot weapons or single action revolvers. Some of them feature no enemies but use weapons entirely as puzzle solving tools, and in others blackpowder smoke and volatile environments make firearms dangerous to use.
Haven't seen a lot of games that go all out in either aspect, though. Have decent hopes for Metro Exodus, though.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.I like your concept about games.
As I know, few games do have this feature. A FPS game called Cryostasis is one of them. The rifle in this game is more of a tool than a weapon.

I like the wood desk the stuff is on. And that book is awesome I don't know how you did that texture but I love it. Exquisite details and I love that gun.

Wow,thanks so much!I am very happy that you like the gun,it's my design.I am very fond of single-shot bolt action rifle and flintlock pistol,so I had this idea.
The texture of the book is done by scratching an hollow ball pen on the surface before colouring.

bogatyrkhan , do you think the same could be achieved with a mechanical pencil tip, maybe 0,5 or 0,3? Or would the tube catch and tear the paper too easily?
π: 0 β©: 1
bogatyrkhan In reply to Tinselfire [2019-02-24 03:11:35 +0000 UTC]
I think it should be better to use ball tip pen.According to my experience, the hollow tube of mechanical pencil does not work well.

Aye, sounds about right. Carrying less tools around would be nice, but then again so is a bit of hardware happiness~

bogatyrkhan In reply to FiveFatDucks [2019-02-23 13:22:47 +0000 UTC]
I learned that trick from a tutorial,it works.Β But if it was a gouache painting,it would be very easy to add the textures and the highlights.
In my concept, the gun fires 10X20mm centerfire black powder cartridge. But the gun's construct is quite strong and it's capable of firing overpressure cartridges.

I think it would work well with a empty ball point pen. There are some ball point pen with very fine tip.
Before use it on your art work,do some testing on other paper.

I think it's quite easy and not possible goes wrong. What you need to do is to draw the lines with an empty ball point pen before colouring.Good luck!
