Description My collection of starfighters from various shooting games, all of which I've played (with the sole exception of MSX Gradius 2/Nemesis 2/Nemesis '90 Kai). Note that the Gradius fighters each come with an Option/Multiple drone.

Top row, left to right: Red and blue Silver Hawks (Darius series), red R-Gray 1 (RayStorm)

Bottom row, left to right: Metalion (MSX Gradius 2/Nemesis 2/Nemesis '90 Kai), blue Vic Viper T-301 (Gradius V; also appears in the CG movies of the "Gradius III & IV" compilation)

All of these are from Yujin's Shooting Game Historica gashapon series. I got all of them from Greattoys (save for the R-Gray 1, which I got from some Christmas bazaar last year) roughly two years ago.

All you are missing is the R-9!

Not to mention the OF-1 Daedalus.

Didn't bother with them much since I never played in the way of Irem shooters much. Dx

Eh the R-9 Had a place in that line-up that you got there. Then you could say it would represent all the OG starfighters that mattered in Video Games from the 80'ies and early 90'ies but, still sweet collection.

I've got Vic Viper and the red Silver Hawk. I wish they made more of these, such as Lord British, Rynex, Gauntlet, Axelay, Raiden MK II, and Ikaruga.

The Raiden Mk II is part of Shooting Game Historica 3: [link]

As for Ikaruga, you'll have to settle for the Kotobukiya plastic models instead: [link] [link] [link] [link]

loved raystorm though the bosses form stage 6 onvards is hellish, only the bosses though, the stages was no problem.[especially boss no.6, the robot with his 2 little turrets and the final boss, it's just plain hellish] tried playing the 13 fighters order mode, couldn't finish it.
also love gradius, though the only one i played as a kid was gradius gaiden, played the other titles when there was a psp remake of the gradius games.
still playing raystorm to this date on my psp xD

The stage 6 boss is one of my personal favorites, if only because it's a transforming heavy aircraft. xD
But yeah, stage 7's boss is just hellish for me as well. At least the final boss is interesting. xDDD
Man, I really wish I had an X360 myself, because the HD version of Raystorm is pure awesome. D:

My very first foray into Gradius is the NES port of the very first Gradius, 'nuff said. xDDDD

I was also wandering whether you got a model for a game called 'Einhander'
That game was also awesome. The graphics, gameplay, weapon varieties, everything.
One of the best shooters ever. Started playing this around the same time I got Raystorm when I was a kid.

It's a bit hard to believe that this game is made from SquareSoft, considering that they usually make RPGs.

This ones are pretty cool, especially the Vic Viper T-301, which is one of the biggest icons in the genre and it's just plain awesome.

They should really add the Raiden Fighters series to this collection though.... they obviously can't add all of the fighters that appear in the three games, but they should at least make the most iconic ones: like the Aegis IV (its camouflage-colored variant, the Aegis II-c, would make a really nice color variant) and the Ixion (my personal favorite); they could also consider the Chaser/Chaser 2000, the Devastator/Eraser, the Judge Spear, the Beast Arrow/Beast Wing..... it would be absolutely amazing and I would definitely get those without hesitation.

Exactly why the Vic Viper is part of the first lineup... Gradius is one of the most popular shmup franchises of all time. xD

Oh yes, indeed. Especially the Judge Spear, which is originally from Viper Phase 1, and the Ixion just screams of cool. :3
Raiden Fighters has so many planes that it should be a whole Shooting Game Historica assortment upon itself. xDD

Ghieri In reply to BoggeyDan [2012-05-16 05:14:42 +0000 UTC]

I agree with everything you said, especially with the idea of Raiden Fighters having its own Shooting Game Historica assortment, in fact, they could easily make 2 or 3 collections out of it if they considered making a few of the bosses from the 3 games.

There are many cool bosses in RF, like the "Hummingbird", lots of cool planes with blended wing bodies, there are also flying fortresses, bombers, they even have a huge carrier aircraft that transports a "smaller" supersonic strategic bomber! ... and just look at this beauty ...... it's the XTB-1 (TLB from RFJet), which is the coolest bomber I've ever seen and one of my favorite final bosses (and bosses in general) from any shooting game I've ever played/seen.

As for Gradius/Nemesis 2, which one did you play - the MSX original, or the '90 Kai remake?

nzdelta4 In reply to BoggeyDan [2012-04-16 14:48:47 +0000 UTC]

The MSX original. It had a decent story for a Gradius game.

Wow! I wish I can get these, but the problem with Yujin is that they do not want to make a lot, and no matter how hard I try, it is always sold out. It irritates me because Yujin wants everyone to sell these in a "first come-first serve" basis.

Great collection!
The R-9 Arrowhead should be in there.

BoggeyDan In reply to carpenocturne [2010-04-26 02:10:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, there should also be the OF-1 Daedalus, the R-90 Ragnarok, the Geo Sword... and so on.

But yeah, this current lineup I have is what I'm most familiar with, having played the games they appeared in.

I'm really looking high and low for the Raiden Mk. II and Star Soldier's Caesar as well. D:

Nice collection.

I do not have the Raiden Mk.II yet, unfortunately. T_T And yes, I'm also planning on getting the Caesar from Star Soldier.
Gotta keep an eye on those when I get back to looking for them.

IIRC, there's no Gunhed yet in the lineup as of far.

SuperArrow In reply to BoggeyDan [2009-06-26 18:59:46 +0000 UTC]

Baw. That sucks. Gunhed is amazing. I have the emulator for the game, and I finally beat the entire game. Raiden and Gunhed had some of the best music for a game like that. I've heard of the game Ikaruga, and I've wanted to play it, because it was another vertical scroller.

Looking at your collections tempts me to buy all those die-cast attack team vehicles from various Ultramen series.

BoggeyDan In reply to Berzerker2k5 [2009-04-27 09:52:26 +0000 UTC]

From what I can remember, there are still some of those at various department stores, marked for clearance. The lineup ranges from classics such as the Jet VTOL from the original Ultraman TV series, up to modern ones such as the GUTS Eagle from Ultraman Dyna.

As of now, the only vehicles I have are the following, all of them dating waaaaay back:
- GUTS Wing from Ultraman Tiga (silver)
- GUTS Eagle from Ultraman Dyna (Alpha, Alpha Superior, Beta, and Gamma)
- XIG Fighter SG from Ultraman Gaia (the red grunt model)

Berzerker2k5 In reply to BoggeyDan [2009-04-27 10:19:40 +0000 UTC]

I see. Nowadays they are quite hard to obtain. So far, I only have one ground vehicle from Ultraman Gaia, it's the 6 wheeled one that could transform into a heptagon-like box form (For transportation purposes, maybe) that belonged to XIG's Team Hercules.

The classics are the ones I'm after, because most of my favorite Ultras are Showa Era Ultramen. In fact, I always felt more at home with the classic Ultras than with the Heisei ones (Excluding Ultraman Great and Powered, whom I always associate with the Showa era).

nice collection. I love the raystorm series and the MSX Gradius 2/Nemesis 2/Nemesis '90 Kai. I remember I used to play raystorm and raycrisis.

BoggeyDan In reply to victortky [2009-04-09 12:41:48 +0000 UTC]

I definitely loved Raystorm, and I certainly love using the R-Gray 2 often, makes me wonder why Yujin still hasn't produced the R-Gray 2 at all.

Never got to play Raycrisis, though I've found out that the R-Grays from Raystorm are unlockable ships in the game.

My personal favorite in the whole collection is the Vic Viper T-301 - being a kid of the 80's, I've played most of the games in the whole Gradius series through the years.

I like to see the fighter using its special weapons and destroying all the nemy suits and bosses.

Raycrisis has a whole new spin in it. Its so awesome to play. I never got to play rayforce...

Vic Viper 301? wow, interesting!

BoggeyDan In reply to victortky [2009-05-04 16:23:01 +0000 UTC]

Yep, from Gradius V on the PS2. Though the T-301 made its first appearance in the CG movies of the Gradius III & IV compilation, it actually made its 100% official in-game debut in Gradius V.

To date, there have been around 3 or 4, maybe even 5 (or more) distinct designs to the iconic craft (excluding the Metalion and the Z.O.E. 2nd Runner LEV).
