Description Photograph taken at St. Marienkirche while on vacation in Berlin, April/May 2009.

"Outside the church on the north side is a 3.5-meter bronze statue of Martin Luther on a granite pedestal. Originally set up at the New Market in 1893, it was sculpted by M.P. Otto (sculptor of the Humboldt monuments at the University) and Robert Toberentz. For the 500th birthday of Luther in 1983, the statue was placed at its present location next to St. Mary's."

The view is very nice, you show just what's important : Martin Luther and his Holy Bible.

USA and Europe do not have the same past, the same history... It's normal for Martin Luther to be popular in Germany, and in Europe... He was German and the Catholic History is richest here (Europe) than in USA... I think (I might be wrong).

Yes I know all about Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. My mother is German-American and Lutheran.

With 1 billion members I'd say the Catholic Church is 'rich' everywhere lol. But I do know what you mean, cultural both religious and not is much stronger in Europe. It's part of the reason I'd like to move there in a few years.

Yes, I wasn't talking about money indeed ^^ And I don't mean to minimize USA's history, but here, the past is about 2000 years old (if you start to Jesus Christ birth...) I hope I'm not doing the things worse... I'm very very awkward with words, I'm sorry. (Tell it Bubamara please)

You'd like to live in Europe ? Germany ? Or... Wales

LOL I know and you're not "doing things worse " I'm quite aware that the USA is a very young country. You want me to tell my gf or you want to know what bubamara means?

Germany while I'm at university but maybe Wales/the UK instead. I can't be away from my gf.

I'd like you to tell her (please) that I'm awkward with words because I must have said something wrong while we had conversations, or maybe am I just boring ^^

Sometimes it's hard for me to find the good words in French, I let you guess how much it can be hard in English

But if you want to tell me what Bubamara means... I'm ok. (Maybe I made a mistake wrinting her name )

She knows English isn't your first language, so don't worry, she thinks you are very kind as do I.

I understand your frustration with trying to find the right words, except instead of French for me it's German.

Awww, don't worry Bubamara is just my nickname for her. It's Croatian//Rromani for 'lady bird.' Here in the US we call them ladybugs, I believe the French call them 'Coccinelle.'

I made my own research to find what Bubamara means and understood it was her nickname ^^ and yes, in french we say "Coccinelle" .

Thank you so much for giving me your and her opinion, I "worried" about what I could have say. I would not like to seem to be boring or just "curious with your private life / relationship".

I would not talk about real frustration, because I just love talking or writing English, is language is so different, usefull, simple and poetic than French in my mind. The problem is just that I must find my words, but it's getting better with time, I didn't used English since University so it seemed very far... With time, I almost do not use my "dashboard translator" to verify my sentences.

Thank you so much hon (if you allow me to call you that ^^)
