Funny how fish stories never seem to be 100% honest about sizes. Who would have thunk that Caira wasn't actually a giant predator of the sea, but rather, a regular sized squid gal? Wonder what sailor started that rumor... Β How disappointing.(For the record, Caira is actually quite large and can terrorize more than toy boats and pool noodles.
I'm still trying to figure out why I drew this picture...I guess I like seeing intimidating characters get knocked down to size. Especially ones who pride themselves in being big.)

Caira has all of the sass in this. I love her tentacles in this, especially how they feel kind of like they have minds of their own (wrapping around Ben's shorts a bit there, I love that detail). Ben's expression and posture are also wonderful! Do I spy shark bite scars?

well it depends to wht "regular" size is for a squid person after all, even a Blue whale 30metres long is "regular sized" and not giant
but it's true fishermen tell lots of lies, it's a rule set in the order of the Universe's things xD

Vary true! A lot of mermaids in my world are actually proportionate in size to the animal they are combined with. However, it is scaled up a bit. So Kai, my human-sized mermaid character is half guppy, but is human-sized. So, pairing a human with a giant squid, and, having her eat and grow over hundreds of years, has made Caira
