Description AS I said, I went to the National Railway Museum yesterday and in their archives they have hundreds of blueprints that can be viewed by the public. I can't post the photo of the blueprint but here is a little teaser for you so you know they exist.
The detail and intricicity (wrong spelling probs) of the design is awe inspiring, these 2 sheets of paper are from 1914 and they were all hand drawn and simply superb. I spent over 1 1/2 hours looking it over and would've spent longer but had more of the museum to snap photos of.

(this is a hint toward my next trainz project)

The E2 will never be made.. it was a terrible prototype to begin with and has zero return on the people who decide to make it.

and your implying that they are willing to spend so much money and time and effort on making a E2 dressed like thomas.. If money was the real thing then why the fuck is HiT selling TTTE to mattel? hmm?

Mattel...is a toy company. the toy company wants to sell toys. what better way to sell toys than to make a Giant sales...engine?

Honestly, if the engine won't benefit any preserved railway in any form (IE can't really do anything), and isn't historically relevant enough to build

Then it will never exist again.

The E2 does not need a new build, I could list off dozens of more deserving locos.

unfortunately for those unfortunate souls, they don't have a star-billing dipwad fronting for them.

The E2 would just not benefit anything, mainly it's poor fuel capacity. As a result, it wouldn't be able to go very far, and wouldn't be beneficial for any preserved railway. New Builds have to fit into a category of functionality, historical importance, and durability.

the Terriers, succeeded by the E2's, likewise suffer from fuel incapacity, even with the bunker rebuilds, and yet twelve of them are preserved.

Preservation should include all classes, even if only static exhibits: i think the Hate among railfans for the E2 is because of a certain (s)hit-bastardized British Icon.
if an E2 had been available, in running condition, and a short line needed an engine?
does it mean the A3's, the Class 812's, the J70's, and Alfred and Judy, shouldn't be replicated/preserved as well?

and don't shout all that "usefulness/economic" stuff at me: the NYC J3-a Hudson's were economic and useful, as well as being an American icon. none were preserved.

The fact is, no one will want to build it unless it was really important to railway history.

The E2 does not fit this category.
