Description Soft pastels on Reeves BFK. This was done during class a week after the midterm. Professor said that this was going to be my best piece to date.

Anyway, it's still a work in progress, as I'm undecided on how to proceed to color this. I wish to keep the church in grayscale and not sure how to color the grass. I may color it in a van gogh style very loosely, but what? At first I was thinking a darker gray, but that doesn't seem to fit. maybe a pinkish, purplish color? OOOh...Maybe teal green? More bluish then green? What are your thoughts?

And like I mentioned before, seeing your pieces from a distance makes a huge difference. And also, seeing the actual photo inches away from your face is a big difference than looking at it from a projector! Looking at it on this computer screen, at the original, is like looking at a brand new picture. I wish we were given copies of the painting on a piece of paper to look at versus the blurry desaturated projector screen.

Oh well.

Oh, and yes, I do enjoy drawing dead trees.

Green would look to Chritmas - esque. Unless that's what you want! Lol a light pink ... even peach may work well. It'll look very French.
Blue would look cool too. Just be careful with how to looks next to the red.

Dead tress are fun!

Yeah, definitely not wanting to make the piece too christmassy! I like the idea of a peach contrast to the red, well, not so much a contrast but it would flow from dark to light from top to bottom. Perhaps I'll add in fuschia and some light pinks like you said. Thanks!
