Yes, the head is different from what you Deinonychus experts expect. I used a different reference which I can't find at the moment...

Everything about this project was a pain.
I don’t own a reciprocating saw yet, so I had to use a hand saw with the wrong sized teeth to cut the backboard to the proper shape(modified deer form, you see).
I set the eyes wrong, and after fighting them for days, leaving the whole thing for two weeks, and fighting them for another day, I was forced to concede defeat and tear them out to redo.

I thought I had enough solid black feathers, but it turns out you need like 4-5 chickens worth of feathers to finish a life-size raptor head. That’s good to know...
And I do actually like the effect with the fading into gold-laced black feathers… It reminds me of the little gold hairs sprinkled throughout my dogs’ head fur.

Oh, and it’s also bizarrely difficult to take good pictures of. O.o

They’re hard to see, but it has cute little javelina-hair whiskers poking out from its eyebrows and chin. :]
It’s also drooling a tiny bit, and I really like how the mouth turned out. <3
