Not a bad description of him as a character.

No matter where I go, it seems there's a universal desire to make fun of Hitler...even Yu-Gi-Oh! did it with Pot of Avarice.

That's good! If you go somewhere and the people there want to make Hitler look heroic and good, it's probably a not a very good place to be.

May the German monster rot in the prison of Hell suffering from an STD for eternity after getting raped by his fellow inmates (bin Laden included).

I haven't read the book, but your art and the comments make me want to. I love your portrayal of these guys!

Why does the guy on the right look like Hitler?
π: 0 β©: 1
borogove13 In reply to GeneralSnuggles [2013-09-16 14:34:51 +0000 UTC]
Because he'sΒ Vizzini, andΒ Vizzini is a small, scheming, arrogant, manipulative villain who is attempting to steer events toward a major war.

They're not quite the same, but it seemed like a good visual parallel to play with, considering the character.

Perfect. I've honestly never read the book, but this fits their characters absolutely perfectly.

OMG. I love the style! Vizzini looks so devious. But Fezzik looks like Abu... Cunfoozling.
Inigo looks like an assasin.
By the way, awesome Jabberwock name.

I love the drawing and the style rocks. Just I am a huge Andre fan, so seeing the Iron Shiek and not Mr. Roussimoff just doesn't feel right.
Fezzik should look more like Andre. His younger days wrestling inspired the author's design of the character anyway. Andre = Fezzik.

borogove13 In reply to LucasPuryear [2009-01-03 09:56:41 +0000 UTC]
Andre's younger days wrestling definitely made him William Goldman's first choice to cast as Fezzik, but in the book he's a mustachioed Turk, not a clean-shaven Frenchman, so I wanted to see the mustachioed Turk. I dig the movie, and I know Goldman's always been happy with the movie, but there's something different to the book that I always really loved, and I wanted to play with that instead of what was already there in the movie. Andre will always be Fezzik when you watch the movie, and can be Fezzik in your head when you read the book, but in this drawing Fezzik is what I see.

It's amazing how much your sketches represent the characters from the book. Having read the book many times and seen the movie many times, I have the images of The movie cast firmly embedded in my brain. Yet, your drawings go right to the heart of each one of them and it seems like they really couldn't look any other way.

I must say I'm very fond of your artwork--especially your P.Bride images. I wish I could see them in action. This image brings to mind the scene in the book where Inigo Montoya runs and jumps at the door with the deadly spider. ^.^

Ever since I read the book version, I've really wanted to see Inigo's backstory in action... preferrably animated. It's just really good. I had to read that bit again last night, due to the movie being on television, and then my searching for stuff and finding this pic.
I really like all of your Princess Bride designs so far. Inigo's scars are much closer to how they were described in the book. I like Fezzik's moustache as well. Very nice!

Man, I love the movie "The Princess Bride" (I gotta read the book one of these days). I'm liking these character designs. I especially like Fezzik; with those tights, that fez, and that jaunty mustache, he really looks like he came from the circus.

The problem is though I suppose, so many of us have seen the movie before actually reading the book that when I think of say Vizzini, I think of that weird balding dude from Clueless. Teehee, although your version looks more scheming and Eviler! (I'm sorry that was a stupid description).
Fezzik might be hard to animate -like you said, the crazy mustache takes away a lot from his face as does the squinty eyes. But he looks stronger than the movie dude did.
However I do think Inigo looks better -okay hotter than the dude they picked to play him. I think it's the hair style, the movie dude had a mushroom cut (although apparently that's stereotypical spanish style?). But your dude has fashion sense too, no leather pants for him!
Okay yes I admit I am one of those 'fifteen year old girls' who view your art, okay?

How shall I put this... if you someone get the idea to not draw the Zoo Of Death sequence, I will personally hunt you down and perform Spinning Tick Torture on you until you change your mind.
Heh, just kidding, just kidding... so tell me, how do I convince you to draw Giulietta Cardinale?

I love these. I think almost everytime I've left comment I've said you've conveyed so much character, well this time isn't any different, they're just dripping with character. My only crit would be that personally I think Inigo would look a little better if he were just ever so slightly thicker in his torso, but that's just me. Great work though, they make such a wonderfully motley crew.

The Princess Bride is one of my favorite books of all time. This picture does the book and it's characters an unbelievable ( or should I say 'inconceivable' ) amount of justice. I am practically bursting into a happy jig of happiness.
The one bit of advice i will give you (please dont take offence, its only because i love this pic so much ) is that I'm not so sure about Fezzik's stance. It makes him look a bit too confident for his character. Perhaps if you didn't have his arms in that sort of flexing position?
one other thing i'd like to congratulate you on: disregaurding the way they look in the movie and doing your OWN oririginal interpertation.
FANTASTIC JOB!!!!!!!!!!! *fav *fav *fav
