Description Fun fact: Painting fire is really fun.

"On April 20, 1861, the day after the riots on Pratt Street, my governor ordered all the bridges leading to Baltimore to be burned. It was then that I knew that there was no escape, no looking back. I stared coldly as the flames that wrought destruction upon my greatest city leapt from my own hands. I think, in that moment, a part of me wanted to be destroyed." [link]

/argh, so emo. haha.

Inspired by the song "Hurricane" by 30 Seconds to Mars. [link] Thanks for making me aware of its existence. It really is perfect for a Civil War setting.

Tell me would you kill to save a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?
Crash, crash, burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground.

No matter how many deaths that I die I will never forget
No matter how many lives I live, I will never regret
There is a fire inside and it started a riot about to explode into flames
Where is your god? Where is your god? Where is your god?

Sorry it's MD again. I haven't drawn her in like a month, I feel so deprived.

MA was just walkin through! /God MA had some bad luck back then eh? SC beating him with a cane, and ~TopazRaven And I have this headcannon that after getting constantly bullied by MA during colonial days, NY finally snapped when they were starting the revolution and shot MA. Kid just can't keep himself out of trouble!

Duuuuude, this is SO awesome! The fire combined with the look on her face makes this look amazing. No problem with the song by the way, I still listen to it at random moments sometimes. Poor MD though. 0.o

Thank you.

I actually like the version with Kanye West a bit better. Which is weird, because Kanye West tends to make the songs he's in a million times more awkward. (ex. "E.T.")

TopazRaven In reply to boscaresque [2011-12-10 02:04:11 +0000 UTC]

No problem! Yeah, I like that version of Hurricane better as well. Though I'm not a huge fan of Kanye West for the reasons you listed.

I think the only actual Kanye song I like is "Homecoming." And that's not so much because it's Kanye but because it's a love song to Chicago. [link] Of all people...lmao.

(lmao that video...they censor the word "downtown." Vevo you perv. )

TopazRaven In reply to boscaresque [2011-12-10 15:16:58 +0000 UTC]

What the hell? Why did they censor downtown? I mean...it doesn't even sound like it was being used in a perverted way so I don't even...

boscaresque In reply to TopazRaven [2011-12-10 19:12:55 +0000 UTC]

I mean, I guess it could be read in a dirty way, but with the censoring....

thanks censorship, you officially make things worse.

Wow! MD, you had it so rough back then! The split with VA, Baltimore being thrown into a state of chaos, Lincoln making it clear that if you didn't join the Union, he'd make cannon fodder of you. I love that glow you produced for the fire, and that look of rage/pain on Anna's face says it all. I wonder, does she still have any wounds from that time?

boscaresque In reply to Angeliserrare [2011-12-10 01:04:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I really do love torturing her too much. muhahaha.

Yeah, she does. They have faded a lot over the years, but they're definitely still there. The most prominent ones are on the right side of her stomach, and another on about the same place on her back, both from where she got shot at Antietam. (in a stupidly symbolic coincidence, once from a Union bullet, once from a Confederate bullet) But now she's kind of proud of them, if only to remind her of how far she's come since then.
