The Left gets to ignore its own convictions regarding identity politics simply because the French woman in question here, Marine Le Pen, is a right-winger. So personally I live in France and I summarize quickly made the situation
- Macron, creator of the movement "En Marche!" , who is rather the friend of the patronage in general. It is not known if he is socialist or not (in 2 interviews, he says he is socialist and in the other he says he is not socialist (Effect Barnum)). Considered a Holland 2.0 (Who received as pseudonym Flamby), we already know that he will put his quinquennium in the ass
- Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Front, draws the reputation of racist because of his father, creator of the party and some of his colleagues but really its program, it is of the big anything, it also had fictitious jobs it justifies by:
"I am a MEP" (No, this is not a joke)
She was not elected for two reasons:
1) The media
The media have always wanted to belittle the National Front in the media. And when Emmanuel Macron declared himself a candidate in the presidential election, the media immediately described him as "young and dynamic" and the French media were not diversified because most of the media were owned by the same people who have almost the same political vision
2) The National Front
Basically, if Le Pen is in the second round, a majority of French will vote for each other without looking and comparing each other's programs. If you ran against MLP, you'd almost win because a majority of French think like that
That's why Macron has won ...
PS: Know that in France and in America, most of the media are corrupted so the information is unreliable

I'm not surprised in the least that French media bias played a huge part in influencing the election. It's no different than the American media in that sense.
Do you mean on the subject Americans' opinions of the candidates this last election? Well in the mainstream media it's the same as the French sentiment. In the populace, the Hillary voters feel the same as the media, but there seems to be a little division among Trump voters a few months into his administration.

The difference between the two is that Macron isn't a xenophobic asshole. It has NOTHING to do with gender. It has to to with that fact that an idiot got in office and that is why everyone lost their minds.

Le Pen was a bad candidate yes. I don't support her, and I'm actually pretty far away from far right as you can get (I actually can't stand them period) but the one thing I take issue with that I think this poster was trying to get at, was that in America, some more zealous Hillary supporters throughout the whole race were accusing people who didn't want to vote for Hillary as sexists point blank no further discussion; regardless of why they didn't want to vote for her and what their personal feelings on women were. There were a lot nonsensical comparisons made to people who did not want to choose to vote for Hillary to people who did not want women to vote in the suffragette era (just because women are on the ballot does not mean people are obligated to vote for them). There was even a slander term created by Hillary supporting liberals to describe people who just wanted to vote for Bernie Sanders instead of her, "Bernie Bros".
However, it makes little sense to label anyone who voted for Bernie Sanders as just sexist straight off the bat. Bernie Sanders identifies as a feminist, so does his wife and family generally, and he has made many work reforms in the state he governs, which is Vermont, which were designed mostly to help working women, like give them better maternity leave, close pay gaps wherever they arose, advocate for women in the workforce etc. He also supports abortion rights to my knowledge and greater access to birth control methods. All of this and more paints a picture of a guy who is very much not sexist, so it wouldn't make sense that he would have a super sexist support base behind him. Maybe SOME of the crowd were sexist, I don't know, but it seems a lot of people who followed him were pretty progressive socially so I would be super surprised if the majority of his support base had sexist beliefs. It seems to me like a lot of Hillary supporters did not do their research and basically spouted this off of the top of their head, because Sanders is a man, white etc. and a subsection of his base was also which is really stupid.
To get back to the point, people were accused of pushing back social progress hundreds of years, being sexist, all of these presumptuous assumptions for not supporting Hillary Clinton in America. But then in France, with Marine Le Pen, no one is accused of stunting social progress for not supporting her. And the worldwide media is outraged at people who vote for her...for good reason true, but it's inconsistent as an attitude. There were plenty of papers freaking out at people not supporting Hillary and people supporting Le Pen. I just think we should judge all candidates on their merits, not their genitals, and we should do this consistently with every female candidate, not accuse people of sexism for not supporting progressive women while the opposite goes for a woman who isn't (and suddenly they're treated more like a man in a political race).
