Description
Despite their simple appearance, the buckles on the case have a specific mechanism that can only be unlocked by high level magic users. In addition to that, those who wish to learn how to operate them have to see the locks first hand and understand how they can be opened. It's sort of like the Gordian Knot Puzzle. Only four magic users in this story can open them. You can guess but I won't say anything. I just made these panels either boring or intriguing.

What if I just slide the belts sideways? I don't see anything preventing that. Why do I need to unlock the buckles at all?
Is it equally difficult to close the buckles? Or can anypony seal up a message for a princess's (or Twilight's) eyes only?
You should have established that the messenger was carrying a message cylinder last page.

I skimmed through the pages all in one night, and I must say that you've got some very impressive work here. I hope to see the next clip pretty soon!
And since your alternate telling of the Crystal Empire is being done in the style of Lord of the Rings, are you going to keep Twilight as the main hero, or are you planning to have Spike perform a more heroic act when delivering the Crystal Heart? This could be an opportunity to make the climax a bit more action packed than it was in the actual show, not to mention it can give a boost of character development for Spike, since he was practically the Frodo of that episode, and he deserves just as much credit as the other main characters. Or are you planning to give him Sam's role, and put Twilight in Frodo's role?

In the early stages, I was conflicted over which pony would fulfill the roles of the Fellowship. Despite how much I've referenced in LoTR, I do have a plan to keep this story as original as I can. To avoid spoilers, I can't offer any responses to the rest of your questions. The story does begin to climb from here!

That's okay, I don't mind not being told much information. When it comes to matters like these, I'd much rather be surprised than being told right st that moment about what's going to happen. Nevertheless though, I'm really hoping that the climax in your story will have more of a heroic kick than the actual episode. That's the one thing I felt was missing in it.
