Massilia: December of 39 B.C.

He had grown used to being far from the embrace of his mother. She was a hunter, after all. It was her duty to be sent off on long journeys to break apart and separate the wild cats of rogue and empire factions. And the sadness he had for missing her those long days was consolable. For every mission that Alexei was off of, she always came back, returning with exciting stories of her experiences, and the battles she faced with an entirely unique and wondrous world in the mind of her son. But this time was different. She wasn’t coming back.

The body may have been returned to the city, but it was no longer the same. Rather, a shell of herself was all that remained. The most important piece of her vanished after her passing. That piece being her warmth, her loving smile, everything that made her who she was. Of course Eschu cried. He grieved the loss of a mother that left him far too soon, and would never be able to comfort or console him ever again. Hours passed, and eventually the tears ran dry after so much sadness. But he still felt that gaping hole that Alexei’s loss left in him.

Eschu's quite distressed after losing him mom. Pacino feels similarly for losing a mate.
