I want this so much. I was hooked on this story while it was still on fictionpress and it even inspired me to create my own mer-story. If only I could buy it!

What inspired me the most was (SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE STORY!) the fact that Marie and Dorian are actually half siblings, and I kinda used this relation in my story.

Heh, I actually bought and read this book about 2 months ago 
I only really have half a critique where it started to get a tiiiny bit cliche in the middle when Marie found she could breathe underwater, since that idea hasbeen quite overdone, but I have to say you actually worked it quite well and justified/explained it without your protagonist becoming the special snowflake, as is the case with many similarly themed stories.
And the community of merfolk I believe is very well thought out and set, I especially like how mermaids tend to be the more hostile of the merfolk. Its kind of playing on actual mythology and developing it into something of your own and I really liked that :3
And I love the palette used in this cover, by the way, it gives it a wonderful mystical feel. Using a tonal variety of three colours for everything except marie, and then giving her a signature colour that pops out as 'not quite the same'.

I'm an aspiring writer myself, and seeing your work here and learning about Pearl Tail...it really brought hope to me that my own works would be recognized one day. I never did finish it online because I was afraid if I did (and I was intending to take it in a professional direction) that it would get stolen. Sure enough, even though it was unfinished online, it was stolen in 2013 and I was not made aware of it until this year. That stolen work has been taken off the site, but my worse fear did happen and I had to take my story off of fictionpress to prevent it from happening again. I was so mad when it happened. I still have the online draft on my computer though
