Struck with an erg for Arabian love stories, I re-watched the 1955 musical adaptation of Kismet today
(And then watched Starkid's 'Twisted: The untold story of a royal vizier' while I colored it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-77cUx… If you like disney, villains, Jafar, or just amazing musical comedy, then you need to check it out )

Anyway, KISMET! This movie is so much fun ^^ First of all it stars Howard Keel, that towering, barrel-chested, god of a man, who's amazing voice enchanted me as a wee youngin' when I watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers... so there's that little chestnut to look forward too. But then there's also the charming story! The comedic and flawless delivery of it's main character who manages to smooth talk his way up from a beggar poet to the kingdom's Royal Emir. The devoted romance between sweet Marsinah and the Caliph (a very Aladdin type scenario). And finally the gorgeous, GORGEOUS costumes.
That's what inspired me to draw these scenes today. I adore Indian and Arabian influenced fashion, and this movie is just dripping with it. So I couldn't help but draw The Beggar, in his Fab-u-lous pink turban and sleeves, and Marsinah's lovely golden Sari
If I could live in these beautiful outfits everyday, I would be a very happy camper mu-mu-mu-mu...

lol, Ahem! Anywho, it's a delightful film and perfect for any afternoon, rainy or otherwise
