Description Pain brush: Bessa R2 + CV 28/1.9 Ultron
Paint: 1/30s @ f4
Canvas: Tri-X (EI250) souped in HC-110 (dil H) for 15:30 @20C
Where: Corner of Min-Sheng East Rd & Xin-Zhong St, about a half-block from my flat.
When: A couple weeks ago
Why: Rainy Day + B&W film = MOOD

I also like the slight sense of motion in the foreground subject. I see so many "frozen" pics here, but my feeling is that city streets are always full of motion and activity.

An interesting capture; I like the fact that the main character is shrouded by darkness, it lends a sense of mystery and intrigue to the whole scene. It makes one wonder where they're going and what is on their mind, rather than just being able to see as much. I agree with you about the movement in the subject, too: cities rarely ever stand stilll. Good stuff.

Thanks

The face was actually half-exposed and I could have either dodged it a stop or burned it in as I did. I chose to burn it in as I wanted the main subject to be "faceless" although many people keep suggesting that I dodge it...but I think that they suggest that because they are curious about her...because I burned the face in...

Pfft, no. I think you were right to burn the face in.

And you're welcome.

I just like those contrasts... The fact of having her face in the shadows definitely adds some mystery to your photo.

A beautiful shot !

noticed this browsing the street shoot-out submissions. very nice. very.
i like this a lot.
i don't blurry shots either.
only grievance is that it would be nice to see at least a bit detail on the woman's face.

I forgot: I intentionally went "detail-less" in the exposure (I exposed for the background) as I wanted her to remain faceless.

holy water...heheh. i do all my bw processing in hc110 (b) and 20 degrees as well, but i'd quite like to try some other ones, mainly xtol and d76.

I sometimes use DD-X if I can afford it and LC-29 if I'm out of everything else (easy to get 'round here for some reason). I have Diafine... a gallon of that has a shelf life of "forever" and is my backup if all else fails.

i'm started doing photojournalism at uni which luckily still has wet-processing facilities and provides me with an unlimited access to hcc-110(b). one of the reasons why i haven't bought any other developers of yet.

When I was doing my art-photo minor I hadn't the slightest what our developer was. There was Tri-X and T-Max in the campus store and times for both written on the darkroom wall
