Latest kaiju battle commission and my first piece of Pacific Rim fan art all in the same picture. This was done for over at the CKC forums. This whole set up was his idea, I just made it pretty.Exterminus belongs to JKorra and you can read about him here: kaijucombat.com/wiki/doku.php?β¦
PS: As a point of interest I drew Gipsy using the pen tool only. Ive always hated the pen tool but Illustrator CS5 has been a very friendly app and so I wanted to push myself and see if using it would make my mecha work look better. In contrast I had drew Exteminus's cyborg parts to give it a different feel than Gipsy's, to give it a more organic look.

I know, when they pulled out that sword at the end of the movie I was like, why the hell werent they using that damn thing the whole time.

I thought about a sword or some stabbing weapon first when Knifehead rammed Gypsy Danger with his horn. I thought why their constructors didn't give them something to stab or slash damn it. And then .. Oh well they did.
This reminded me a bit of power rangers where they only unleashed their most powerful weapon at the end of episode

LOL maybe that was Del Toro's intent, to homage the fact that this sort of thing happens in the genre. There's a great youtube video where they use the sword and realize how easy it is to kill kaiju with ir so they park Gipsy outside the rift and just behead any kaiju as it appears lol!!!

Haha just watched it. I think that even better "how it shoudl have ended" would be that they use Β swords from the very beginning in each single fight Β thus ending it in a few seconds. (ironically even if that docs calculation that Kaiju will be coming through rift more and more often, ending up each minute or something like that would probably be possible to handle using that technikque, as they'd die momentarily after entering earth. xD In the end we get Jaeger pilots taking a few hour shifts of constant chopping every Β kaiju head that appears through the rift xD

This is really damn awesome! I love Gypsy Danger, but I have never heard of Exterminus (even though he looks totally beast!) and I love the Pacific Rim crossovers! While I cant really complain about anything I do have to say that Gypsy should be around 10 meters taller then Exterminus, as her official height is 87 meters. Still, great stuff!

Exterminus is from the upcoming game Colossal Kaiju Combat .He's very massive but you are correct in trying to make him look broader and heavier than Gipsy I ended up making him to tall. Even with one springing up and one falling back I think Exterminus is a little too big. C'est la vie.Β

When I saw this picture my jaw had literally dropped....
