The movie is a little out there to be sure, but I sure did love the monster in it.

Love the monster, but screw that movie. I think it's the worst kaiju film ever made, and falsely advertises a monster that gets little to no screentime.

Thanks. As for the film I havent had the chance to see it yet but I hear the monster is only in it for like 5 minutes.

It's true, and the rest of the film is a weak japanese highschool kid drama. The end after the dream sequence with the monster the kid comes to the conclusion that the monster isn't real and the dude who told him about it was nuts....great stuff...At least Godzilla's Revenge had stuff going on all the time related to monsters and stuff.

After seeing the monster of the film, which is a pretty good design itself, I must say I like this one even better. That twisted fortress of a shell just sends chills down my spine, and that mucus-lined skin is great.
Indeed, as far as kaiju films go, Demeking the Sea Monster (from SPAAAAAACE ) is a strange one. The first third of the movie really strikes me as odd: It's people doing... stuff. Just... stuff; exercising, riding bikes, ect. Nothing of real importance is said either, no exhibition and very little significant backstory.
Once the group starts learning about Demeking is when the film starts to become interesting, which ultimately leads up to the titular monster's appearance, via the dream sequence, which ends up being some surprisingly good monster action.
After that, the film just kinda putters out on a low note. Overall, not for every kaiju fan, but those seeking something a little different from the genre might like it.
Also, have you by any chance ever heard of "Negadon: The Monster from Mars"? It's an awesome short film you might consider for future revamps.

Ive still yet to see the film but your synopsis jives with everything Ive heard about it.
Ive actually got a copy of Negadon, a really sweet short film to be sure. I hadnt considered Revamping him because he's pretty perfect as is, I wouldnt even know where to begin honestly.

So much love this monstrosity ! It looks cool and awesome, a perfect body design and I like that shell and quit interesting that it can walk on legs. Pretty surprised that he's actually from a movie, I didn't even knew about it from the start ! Wonder how it is ?
And it's quit funny since I came up a while back with a kaiju that is basically a sea slug or a nudibrach mutated by the oxygen destroyer ( yeah long story but all I can tell is that Destroyah isn't the only monster created by the oxygen destroyer in my kaijuvers, heck there are like 5, and there wasn't only one oxygen destroyer ).

I havent seen the film myself but there are Lovecraftean overtones and the monster only appears for like 5 minutes in a dream sequence but I still want to see it.

So wait, he appears only 5 minutes ! Well, that's quit a shame, I really would have wanted to see him in action and how his powers are. But still, awesome pic !

I've never seen this movie but it looks like an awesome beast you've drawn. Not to mention that the movie itself sounds interesting.
I love the sea creature thing about it, but it also has an appearance similar to crude oil, so while it's organic it's hostile to life. I like it, and I like the chimneys and stacks of his shell, almost like there is a little city inside.

Bracey100 In reply to Master-of-the-Boot [2013-06-05 06:57:18 +0000 UTC]
There is indeed a city in there, lol. While not a part of the movie itself I created a new mythology for the beast given the films Lovecraftian tone. Read the description to for the full details on my idea there.

I am by nature a writer of sorts as well as an artist. I think any of us who ever create comic books or any sorts of OCs are. Plus given how much I enjoy artists discussing their process I thought Id share mine. Glad to see my words are as enjoyable as my pictures (or even more so).

This is prolly my second fave raves. Never seen the movie, but your description sounds intriguing. Daimajin didn't get very much screentime in those movies, but that usually ended up being worth it. Been meaning to track this one down for a long time.

Thats true but fortunately for my I love samurai period movies so that kept me going until Daimajin appeared. Im going to have to do one of him some time soon. And thanks, I really enjoyed conceptualizing Demeking here.
