Commission for Magic The Gathering's Journey Into Nyx expansionDefinitely the weirdest card I've been asked to illustrate so far; an giant nautilus with a glass shell that is an enchantment, not a creature and instead of there being shadow there is night-sky, because its quasi-real.

are these legit start to finish by handpaintings or do you 3D model a base and paint over it and add photo manipulation? Because you and other Mtg artists, I cannot tell the difference.

it looks like a poor photoshop job.. not sure the nebula/star cluster looks so great masked in over the nautilus tentacles but hey

There seems to be a whole card set with this night sky theme - I always wandered how do you ppl do it cause they all looke the same, same colour palete and same effects, despite of being painted by different artists

I love the flavor of this card it's a cephilipod that sits on your head (which makes you like, really buff) but if anyone looks at you funny you explode.
