Introspection -- looking through life's natural mirror at your inner self -- can yield a world of things you didn't know about yourself, or didn't know you could do.

As this girl approached the glass overlooking the Ice Palace in West Edmonton Mall, she stopped suddenly in her tracks, drew a coy expression, and grabbed tightly onto her dad's arm. There was no way she was going anywhere near the glass. She was convinced she'd fall right through, onto the ice below.

After her dad coached her through a little introspective session consisting of some challenges she's overcome in the past, the girl was willing to, with her dad's assurance, reach forward and touch the glass. It took a few attempts, but when she did it she turned around, screamed, and ran to her mom. She relayed all that I've just told you (in a slightly more excited and condensed fashion, mind you ) much to the approval of her mother.

By realizing all that she's done in the past, she was able to overcome a fear, and learned that she could do something she never dreamed of doing before. I know that the next time I face a challenge, this girl will be the first thing I think of, and I'll whole-heartedly take her advice: I'll think back through my past to find something that proves I can overcome the challenge.
