Love the awkward pose, it gives off a childish and playful feel which is a contrast to her concentrated and menacing expression, and I love those lines too! I can see where you put a great deal of delicate care into them so they would be thin in certain areas and thick in others. Lovely job!

the secret is pen and ink... you know, with the nib point? the key that as long as you can control the nib so that it doesn't spurt ink all over the place, it really does all of that wonderful variation in line for you... I should really do another pen and ink piece!

whenever i see these rather stunning characters named "alice"
it makes me feel inferior sharing the same name- Specially when i'm not even white

her expression is priceless though
the piece makes me think of sumie paintings

That is freaking awsome! I love her vibe. Makes me wana go say hello and at the same time kinda run away. Her posture is fantastic, really good positioning of the hands and the feet.

brainleakage In reply to SixelaB [2008-03-13 17:51:21 +0000 UTC]

yeah that's REALLY hard to do at OCAD. both transferring to AND from OCAD is difficult. Their administrative skills are dodgy at best, and you'll have difficulty equating all of your credits and will probably end up re-taking a whole bunch of shit.
that's ocad for you.

thanks. i had it in a few local shows and everyone always comments on the spatter. they're like "how did you do it so it's that perfect?" and i'm like *shrug* it'll probably never happen again.

hey thanks a whole bunch, man. I'm honoured for your multi-faving! i know how it goes with the favouritizing, and more than one favourite in a day is a huge compliment.

you're alright, man. you're all-right.

i like the sense of composition and balance. which, speaing in such a vein, your sig balances that one crimson lock perfectly. the eye and lip makeup are perfect nuances. Great work with the inks, i love the heavy contrast. I also admire how you worked in that border, it's interesting how elegant and ghostly it is. It makes me think of sumi-e.

oh, wow, thanks so much for your critique... usually comments consist of "this is really nice, i like it blah blah blah" (which of course, i'm not complaining about... and artists' ego is fragile *grin*) but it's really fulfilling to get a comment that lets me know my intentions through design are not going unnoticed. glad you picked up on it all. thanks so much again for your comment.
cheers
