Been wanting to play with a Kikyou piece for a while now. It's been a long time.
I'm more or less happy with this....it has a few spots I still want to tweak, but all in all....Decide for yourself what she's thinking about as to why she has such a pleasent look....

Very cool painting of kikyo. I like how you actually painted her Asian. alot of people do the fan art and make her look american, which isn't supposed to be that way but I'm used to it. I'm glad to see someone changing the way things are painted with fan art. Please keep up the good work!!

Her eyes look so lifelike and alive! I'm fond of thsoe and especially the coloring on what would be her right cheek, you do great skintones! I like your take on the characters in general
I personally think one of the great things about Inuyasha is that all of the characters to me are just so darn likable. Even the characters you're 'supposed' to not like, like Naraku.

Hmmm...maybe this is Kikoyu as she's going to meet Inuyasha, right before the events that led to the entire story taking place. Have you seen episodes 146-147 (I think it was those two)? It was a double-feature telling the entire story of Inuyasha and Kikyou up to Naraku's interference. I was always kind of neutral about Kikyou before, but that episode changed my opinion and made me really like her, and feel sorry for her. For all her power, she was just a young girl (I picture her to be around 16 or 17, because she looks to be a bit older than Kagome in the series) deeply in love, and she was willing to give up everything to be with the one she loved, so they could both find true happiness. I really think they could have, too, if Naraku hadn't shown up.
Anyway, beautiful artwork, as always. ^_^

I'm about 25 episodes from there, but I've heard a great deal about those two (and moreover a war they started elsewhere....hmmmm....)
I've been fairly netural on Kikyou until recently....something about her in some of the more recent episodes I've seen (mainly the Shichinin-tai arc) gave me a great deal of sympathy toward her....I'm sure once I hit those couple episodes, I'll really catch her in a new light. Though it won't change my love for Inu and Kagome.

Oh, I like. It IS nice to see a happy Kikyou for once. Cause, I mean, Takahashi sure isn't going to show us one. I'd like to think that this is a Kikyou before she met Inuyasha. Before the Shikon no Tama. A girl who loved what she did, lived for helping other people, and too care of her little sister. At least, that's how I imagine her to have been... if she wasn't, then I don't know if I could like her character at all ... but like Urd-chan said, one can talk about Kikyou forever.
But, about the portrait itself, I love how she looks so genuinely happy. Something about her eyes speaks to you. She looks like someone just said her name, y'know? Like it's a moment in time remembered. Or a dream of what could have been. So pretty.

wow.. I whole heartedly agree with ~ Urd-chan on what they said, Kikyou's character is so misunderstood, I actually have great feeling for her, but, also as Urd has said, I dislike her always interfearing. *Shakes fist* lol.
Your artwork is as beautiful as ever, the part I like best about this above all is the soft tones, and her eyes, the eyes are the best part, they make this image to me.. so lifelike, and, erms.. full of life? La.. ^^ I love this much.

It looks really good. Even though she's not my *favorite* character on the show, I can still say you portrade her well. But her left (our right) shoulder looks a little... funny to me. I'm not sure why

Kikyou is really a mysterious and misunderstood character. It's easy to hate her, but it's harder if you really think about her situation. I don't think I would be the most pleasant person if I thought the man I was going to spend my life with killed me, and then I was reanimted against my will, kept alive only with the use of the souls of dead girls, and then had to watch the very man I planned on spending my life with running around with my own reincarnation (and in that sexy mini-skirt to boot). I think Kikyou has the right to be a little cranky at times, although I'm not fond of her interferring with the Inuysha/Kagome relationship. But, we could discuss Kikyou forever.
On to the art. Great job on this. I can only wonder if this is meant to be a picture of her before all the tragedy. She looks almost too peaceful for it to be in the current story-line. Or, perhaps, this is her at the end - Naraku's destroyed and she's finally able to find her peace.
Again, great job. I love the realism of your work.
