Description
Avisaurus archibaldiΒ was a enantiornithine bird which would flown about the semitropical jungles and wetlands of North America between 70 and 66 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous Period. Known primarily from fossilized foot bones and teeth, it is thought to have retained dinosaurian claws on its wings like most of its relatives in the enantiornithine grouping. It probably was a predatory carnivore like modern hawks and eagles, hunting smaller creatures such as lizards, snakes, mammals, and invertebrates. The hornbill-like casque you can see on its snout here would be a speculative addition of mine.
