Come you all let’s gather by the fire
I want to tell you the story of ole man McGuire.
He saw with his own eyes,
Oh, and he never told lies,
A river so dark and red as the blood in his veins.
He trotted closer with his old horse called, Baines
What he saw was gruesome, so nasty
That thing arose from water was ghastly.
The horse got a fright and tossed ole McGuire
He flew through the air and landed in front of the dire
The horse broke away, leaving with fright
From that dreadful thing in his sight.
Ole man stood up, shivering with fear,
Surely thought his dying day was here.
He gave the demon one look in that awful looking face
Before he turned round and started to race.
He bolted so fast that he passed his old horse
Not looking back once, to the sight of that river of course.
Ole man McGuire lived to tell us the story
He never went back that was river too gory.
