    Origin Tales: Leonard mutt

          This story starts among the stars, the final frontier. An alien race, called “Mavericks”, examine the planet Mobius and its diverse creatures. An “Alpha exploration” team, consisting of four cadet aliens, take a small pod and decide to land on a tropical island. At the same time, two parents, a grizzly bear and a dog, just let the beautiful mutt son enter the world, Leonard Mutt. Being beach-goers, and since they live in Adabat, they believe that it’s best to get their son near the water. (It’s a Hawaiian joke: We learn to surf and swim before we even crawl) As they let him get his feet wet, the smallest, clumsiest, and simply weakest alien find Leonard and decides to investigate. Unbeknownst to either of them, Mavericks are known for fusing with other alien species, and the alien accidentally clones Leonard, then fuses with the clone.

          Now in the clone body, the alien briefly feels normal and almost stronger, until his right arm, legs, and eyes shut down, causing it to freak out, but to others, it’s a crying baby. Luckily for the alien, Eggman was investigating the aliens from a far, and managed to locate and rescue the weakened alien, and bring it back to his base. Eggman, as intellectual as he is, managed to fix and help the mobian/maverick fusion. Eggman treated this creature as his own child and raised him to learn English, walk, talk, and act like a normal Mobian. The first thing Eggman made important to learn was his “Mobian birth name”, which was Leonard.

          After 3 years of training, experimenting, and parenting, it was turned pointless. The Freedom Fighters attacked Eggman’s base and rescued kidnapped mobians and critters alike. Unlucky for most, this included Leonard. Sally Acorn, princess of Knothole and leader of the Freedom Fighters, found the young Leonard sleeping in a pod and “rescued him”. Of course, Eggman wants his revenge on them, and to save his alien child. Sally took Leonard in as her own and, being only three years old (by technicality) claimed her as his mother.

          Surprisingly, the grizzly mother, dog father, their tanuki daughter, and mutt Leonard, were also freedom fighters. When Sally brought the alien back to their base, a blinding light filled the room, and mysterious force lifted the two Leonard’s into the air. After a few seconds of floating in the air, their memories, emotions, and speech patterns became one, and they fused into one singular being. Both Sally and Girzzly mother were surprised and very confused. Who does “Leonard” go to? Who does he/they call mother? They two families made an agreement, allowing Leonard to live with both families (One family- two weeks), and all the included children are his siblings. As for Eggman, the alien half remembers his as a father, so every once in a while, Leonard will sneak off to go say hi to “Uncle Eggy”, and spend a few hours with him. After all, it WAS thanks to Eggman that he was able to survive Mobius’ atmosphere after all these years.
