a 3 piece vynil stocking at the head led to a death by suffocation... yes i have gone through that pase...

Yeah. I had to get new black stockings. The outer white was didnt have snot on it, but the two blacks ones inside were really gross.

Well, I used to buy size 3 stockings, and they were not very comfortable, but I just found size 4 stockings and they feel pretty good. My nose is still a little smooshed, but not too bad. It helps if you leave them stretched out over cardbord or somthing. Just be carful you dontput a run in them went trying to stretch them. That has happen to me, right after finishing a mask that took forever to do.

I used lycra and painted it with india ink.
Couldn't see all too well, but it looked awesome and I could breathe without my nose whistling.

Silly as it is, that reminds me of the first time I actually wore my Rorschach costume in public.
I went to this big anime/comic/video game convention with a bunch of my friends, and dressed as Rorschach for the day.
I ended up getting the fright of my life when the BEST Darth Vader cosplay I have ever seen walks up behind me, breathing that scary way that's only scary cause of who's actually making that sound as they breathe. The person TOWERED over me, literally, which is actually not all that hard, considering me and Rory are about the same height IRL (5ft 5in). Tells me "Nice costume" with a flawless voice changer then walks on, trailing half a dozen Storm Troopers.
I found out about a half hour later that the person in the costume was not only a girl, but the closest thing to the typical Valley Girl I have ever seen (at least in appearance). As well as discovering the fact that the Storm Troopers hadn't come with her, but rather had gathered to her, like moths to a flame.
When I finally left the convention some hours later, I got a glimpse of her once again, and the Storm Troopers following her had exploded in population 'til it was practically a full troop.
Freaking insane.

lol! wow! that must be one awesome dart vader costume.. hmmm... i think she's from the 501st legion... the 501st legion always have their own sith lord in every states [literary speaking] lol! and everytime a darth vader toured around, storm troopers (the loyal soldiers lawl) gathered to be the body guards.. hmm that must be ahellotta stormtroopers!... i must found out who she is... that must be one sweet darth vader costume... mine's kind off... bleh... im still getting the hang on making costumes..
(btw 5 foot and 5 inch is how many cm? im bad at math 8D)

About a week, actually.
I meant to take longer, to experiment with the mask and all, but I ended up going to camp the week before and had just got out of school for spring break, so I really didn't have the chance to do as much as I would have liked.
I scrounged around the local Value Village quite a lot, and ended up finishing the mask (with my mum's help) the night before.
For this next Sakura-Con, I'm going to be refining the costume I have, acquiring an actual purple pinstriped suit instead of a shirt and pants, getting a proper hat (I think it's a fedora), and getting better shoes (I ended up wearing a pair of big clunky leather boots in an attempt to make myself look a big more masculine).
I'm also considering making a prop grappling gun (or perhaps buying one if I can find a maker with reasonable pricing, washable blood splatter, sugar cubes, and maybe even a prop cleaver, just cause.
But the Bloody Rorschach idea is something of a pipe dream, since I've got most of my time concentrated on college classes at the moment.

yeah classes could be taking a lot of time but education is education... lol 8D good luck with refining rorschach costume! i've also been trying to find those washable blood splatter thing, i kinda get too pessimistic sometime when i tried to splatter my trench coat around like crazy with paint 8D...sad...

A working grappling gun would be pretty epic, but it's not required to make the costume awesome. It's just fine as a prop.
