Description I love his shadow, especially his little feelers.

Do you know how hard it is to take outdoor still life in harsh March winds? Hard. Very, very hard!

To make matters worse we have been warned to secure all items in our home because when the shuttle comes in today we are going to get hit with two very loud and hard sonic booms that are going to rattle our homes. Oh Goody! As always the joy of living in Florida is sonic booms followed by a migrain that lasts for hours.

Put a bit of cotton in your ears or stand in the shower with the bathroom door closed. (yeah I know it sounds silly, but it muffles the boom somewhat.) -yep I'm a native Floridian Gonna miss those booms though.

Beautiful Astor- they're hard to find these days.

I think it's the shock more than the noise that is upsetting and gives you a headache. Nothing like having your house shook and your nerves shot because even when you know it's coming it still takes you by surprise.

So, you won't be here for the nasty booms? Lucky you.

Ummm...this is the highly popular Florida Spiderwort, not Aster.

No. I have never seen one. Like to though. Carnivorous plants interest me. Plant and carnivorous are two words that shouldn't even go together. lol

true. my parents use to have a gas station in Orlando (near Bithlo) that sat on the only good part of swamp land. My friends and I would wander the swamp area picking wild black berries and throwing bugs in the picture plants. (nope I'm not ancient )

Nothing is better than warm blackberries straight from the plant. Worth the bloody legs and arms to pick them. lol. Yep, I AM ancient.

bet i'm older. but anyway- wouldn't know about EATING them- I have serious allergies to eating any berry that has the seed on the outside or is grown on a bush (except for cranberries which is odd. I can have them in minute amounts. we think it's because they are grown in a bog) but i loved to pick them.

If so, bet you wouldn't be older by much.

That is odd. I love fresh picked blackberries. The store bought ones are always dried out and bitter.

I graduated in 1981 (not quite 17) see? old but not tooo terribly so. (i hope)

have you tried soaking the store bought ones in an ice bath for about 1-2 minutes then sprinkling a light cover of sugar on them (after they are pat semi dry) and storing in the fridge about an hour before eating? my mom did that.

ever eat kumquat or loquat? we use to pick them off trees in the front yard
