Description This took me...years to finish. And not consecutively. Since I am very much approving of the Old Testament, which involves blood, gore, black and white law (God's law), and no one can make mistakes...I took Ephesians rather...brutally.

Here's the scripture:

"Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints...."

Ephesians 6:10-18

Since I never considered God to be a pansy--there never were "fluffy pretty angels" mentioned in the Bible--I didn't want God's women to be pansies either. Therefore, for my dear Mom's friend, I've painted this for her. This is the...non-violent version.

My mom's friend also showed my earlier sketch to her 'female group' and they asked her "where were her tassels" or something like that. Out of boiling anger towards such foolish conservatism, I gave her a PG look (sorry GURLZ, but I wasn't going to dress her up in a damned MUSLIM GET-UP!!!). And "she ain't no nun!" -Sister Act I

So...now you've seen the edited nice version.

ON WITH THE BLOOD AND SEXY VERSION!!!!

I love that you love the Old Testament. I often forget to look there to learn and see what God has done for our ancestors (biological or spiritual). Blessings and peace on you!

Thanks! Good to hear from you. I love Old cuz it shows us why we need the New. And it's just this HUGE love story about a Creator trying to be with his Creation despite how screwed they are. Plus I love the angels. Powerhouse killing machines unless they're being nice. Lol.

outstanding work. characters are nothing more than plain jane characters until you add something to them that makes them eye candy. i've found there are three things: eyes, hair, and above all the gear they wear. in this case you've managed to make explosive results in all three. hence this is an eye catcher to me in a pool of different characters. your resolution speaks volumes about the clothing. its one thing to make cloth, or boot treads however, you've landed textures on all of them. this can only be done by a decent resolution. this must be a hefty sized file.
even though i have photoshop for mac, and pc the results are seemingly more advanced on macs. specifically if you are working in a high resolution and using a good tablet. i also see you made the effort to fight against your weak spot; for-shorting. great over all composition, and colour theory works well too. this is obviously the results of long hard work. keep it up lady.

With my mac I can work faster with larger images because the computer focuses on the one program I'm using, not all these other minor programs all at the same time like my stupid PC did.

Overall, I'm happy you like this. You're going to school for art (finished yet?); I'm going to school for English. It's nice to gain perspective of someone in the artistic realm, and someone as articulate (ooh! Loquacious is a good word too!). You can tell my boots were my faaaaavourite object to paint. I had multiple references from this site to help me with the textures and "shiny-bobbles" and I'm proud how they turned out. MUCH better than Keats' boots. XC I think I just got lazy and wanted to get Keats done and over with.

You bring up a good point on the resolution. I didn't think about it...but maybe I should take shots of certain points at 100% and then post them so people can see the details. I'm not great like other artists...but I really did work my ass off on the boots...and there's subliminal messages in a few places in this painting. It'd be rude not to show them.

Glad the colour theory is okay. I wanted to keep it simple cuz I'm not great with colour. I prefer B&W but colours are pretty!!! And sometimes I just want to use all of them I forget about the theories and do whatever...then it looks bad. So I kept this kinda bi-chromatic. Creamy to red and all the black stuff is just a darker version of red.

Thanks for the comment!!!

It's great to see the final version of this (well, the PG one anyway XD) after so many years~

Lots of props to your effort to finish~ That's dedication.

But for the pic - still love it. You have to admire all the strength and determination behind it and that reminder that the Lord is strong as well as compassionate.

I honestly was getting sick of having to do it over and over again with Painter crashing on me all the time. This was probably my most triumphant piece and toughest pain in my ass. Dedicating anything to God requires completing trials that threaten the very livelihood of virtue and perseverance. BLEGH! Nonetheless...it is finished.

Thank you kindly for your comment. It made my night!!!
