Description This is suposed to be Jada Pinkett Smith, the actress who played Niobe at Matrix. Saw her picture at the magazine Wired (May 2003, i guess) and she was so wonderfull i had to draw her. Besides, i still need some practice with portrait drawings.

Anyway this is the final result of a lot of time drawing. I found it preety hard to draw her, mainly cause i couldn't capture her eye expression and nose shading... and i still know i wasn't able to capture that realisticaly enough (is this well written??). That's why it seems a bit " rough", i used the eraser a lot...

That means i'm half glad with this one.

Hope u enjoy it more than me

Edit: just corrected some minor glitches on the blank area of the drawing.

Well, it's not THAT accurate, you know.... There are a few mistakes, but i'm kinda glad witj the overall look of it.

hmm the only thing I can see is that maybe the hairline in the middle is a little sharp, but that's if I were to nitpick it... it's very well drawn! I luv the collarbone/neck area and the highlighted cheekbones.. very good job ^_^

Phew finally got a chance to comment

This is a superb drawing,Although you may not agree I really think you got her eyes perfectly, if I cover the rest of the face leaving only the eyes visible I would surely recognise Jada a mile away. I tell that Will Smith is a lucky guy! he he he.

The rest of the face is very well drawn tooand technically I can not really criticise, the shading and highlighting is excellent. I think the only "fault" I see is porportion. I think the face is perhaps too long? I think it is ever so slight and I may be completely wrong as I don't have the photo to compare with. It may also be her nose that is too long, I am not too sure.

Anyway overall I think you did a great job, I instantly recognised "Niobe" and that is 2/3rds of the battle.

Awesome work though if I could make one suggestion, the left hair line down her face seems too sharp. There would either be a little light coming from the other side giving at least a little shadow causing a gradient below her hair or the light would be all from one side causing a slight gradient as her head curves away from the light. Its just that without the small drop shadow from her hair, it looks like she is wearing it. Overall though, great work. Really nailed the skin tones.

No problem. I love that about DA too. Personally I always look hard for trouble areas in other people's work because then I learn from their mistakes too. And I think it is easier to see mistakes in other peoples works because you look at your own so long you can't see it anymore. Plus, a lot of the time its hard to learn from a piece done perfectly.

Wow that's awsome! I think you did a great job. I know how that is though, I have lots of things I draw that turn out okay but when I look at the refrence I absolutley hate it to pieces @.@ But anyways I always say that if the picture I drew is reconizable to the person I meant to draw, then I'm more than happy. And believe me this definetly looks like Jada to me!

Exactly what i think! If someone recognizes the person it must mean that it isn't that bad! Besides i had a lot of fun doing it and that was the purpose.

I spent a lot of time shading. Besides, i decided to try an unusual composition, i thought it would make it more appealing, he contrast between the dark tone of her skin and all the white should make it look better. It seems it was worth it
