Description My tribute to the Adventures of Lolo games for the NES.
I'm not too happy with the end result here. I love all the individual drawings, but it looks very obvious that it's comprised of many parts just slapped together, and the little level enemies kind of got too small and are almost entirely lost back there. Ah well.
Lolo was a super fun game by Hal labs. It was a brain-bending puzzle/adventure game that required you to utilize all enemies, items and surroundings in a room to collect all the heart blocks and move onto the next room. You assumed the role of Lolo, the little blue dude, who enters the Devil's Tower to rescue the Princess Lala, the little pink dude-ette, from the Great Devil. Each area was a floor in the tower, and after so many rooms per floor, you moved onto the next. The Great Devil, although looking rather menacing, is hands down the most dissapointing villain ever - you don't even battle him! When you complete the final stage, you are presented with a quick cutscene where Lolo walks up to the Great Devil, then simply puts him in an egg (that's what he does for some reason...) and kicks him away. I don't know if you actually get to battle him in Lolo 2, since I've never beat that one. I can get up to a stage or 2 before the final stage but as far as I'm concerned, that stage is LITERALLY impossible. Lolo 3 was OK, but kind of a dissapointment, and I never played that one back in my NES glory days.
Most people probably better know Lolo and Lala from Hal's "Kirby" series, where they appear as bosses and have unnecessarily longer names. I still don't get how Kirby became Hal's claim to fame and Lolo, a totally unique series with memorable and challenging gameplay, remains totally ignored. No offense to Kirby fans, but I've kind of always just viewed that series as a retard game. It's like an ultra dumbed-down platformer with close to no unique charm at all. I've never been able to get into Kirby at all, but Lolo remains one of the NES's greatest treasures. If you have never played Lolo, than you are missing out on a wonderful gaming experience, my friend.
Enjoy.

I personally love Kirby, but I would love to check out Lolo at some point. I did play a similar puzzle game on the Game Boy back in the day known as Mole Mania, that involved you pushing, pulling and throwing objects, as well as digging, to make it to the end goal.

This is a VERY old drawing, and was posted during my hater days. I actually love Kirby too. I really need to go back and remove all my angry hateful descriptions from back then. I was so annoying.

Yeah, Mole Mania is very similar to Lolo.

"Hater Days"?

Coincidentally, that and Lolo willΒ likely be up for consideration for games that deserve another chance.

Has anybody noticed that lolo and lala look like lololo and lalala from the Kirby games?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BrendanCorris In reply to Slayer-of-Eternity [2012-05-30 17:02:55 +0000 UTC]

That's because they're the same characters. The same guy who made Kirby, Sakurai, originally made Lolo. That's why they push the blocks from Lolo at you when you battle them in Kirby's Dreamland.

SmashProX [2011-11-01 23:26:25 +0000 UTC]

Why would people not like Lolo? I can actually answer that. From what I've seen, Adventures Of Lolo seems mostly puzzle oriented, and most people aren't into that. They usually like straight on games like Kirby.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BrendanCorris In reply to SmashProX [2011-11-02 15:37:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but true gamers can see that Lolo not only offers a totally unique style of gaming, but a challenging one that requires brain work. Kirby on the other hand... brains are not required.

SmashProX In reply to BrendanCorris [2011-11-02 15:53:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and that's why people like it. Ya don't really have to use your brain, and people kinda like those games. All I'm saying.

I loved to play this game when I was little (Well we played 2). But I remember that my dad beat this game (and he played this very much) but I never got to end XD

He beat Lolo 2? I can get to the very end of that game but I can't beat one of the final stages. The only Lolo title I've ever beaten is the original.
