Yep. Probably the best Scooby Doo out of the Warner Bros. era. I think Fred was the best in this, plus Daphne quirkiness is funny and the show has a Gravity Falls feel to it. (You can tell the creators were inspired by Gravity Falls for this incarnation.)
Yep. This Scooby Doo is getting the franchise back in a good way, this one is showing Mystery Incorporated fans what THAT show was missing, simple and fun.

The art style would have to be REALLY ugly for me to dismiss a show simply because of how it looks (Problem Solvers is a good example). I wasn't crazy about the Be Cool designs when I first saw them. But they work better in motion and they fit the wacky style the writers are going for; so I'm learning to like it.
And don't even get me STARTED on the Mystery Incorporated fans who are outraged that this new creative team has the audacity to bring fun and G-rated humor back into the franchise! They seem to believe that a Scooby show can't be funny unless all the lead characters are mentally deranged a-holes (and every "joke" boils down to "LOL the original Scooby show sure was stupid and lame and btw Velma is a fattie LOL").
Also, I love how some MI fans are saying Be Cool's Daphne is "sexist" because she's a clumsy, dingbat, comic relief character. As if MI's Daphne (who existed only to pine for Fred and wear fan-service costumes) is a paragon of feminism. XD
Heck, even if MI had been the second coming of cartoons that it's fans seem to think it is; it's over now. It got a definitive ending. Now it's time for a new creative team to have a shot

Ugh, that show... yeah, in those cases I can't blame you or anybody else, I've heard people get sick watching that show for a while and just... well, back on topic XD, Yeah, I think the design could have been better but it works for the wacky style they were going for. And at least to me, the humor is good enough to look past the meh-to-ok designs. Not many episodes are out of course right now but I'd totally like to see your whole thoughts on the show after a while.
Exactly! Just because it's one again going into a different direction doesn't make it "bad" or "inferior", just different. And really, those fans need to realize that SDMI was meant to be it's own thing, and setting it as the standard for every Scooby series or movie/special after (despite some nods in them) is just setting themselves up to be disappointed.
Yeah, I've seen that too, and I just... don't understand? Like, if you don't like Be Cool's Daphne, that's fine, it's not how I would usually write her either (although I will admit I do love her in this show despite that). But to say she's sexist as if SDMI's version was THAT good of a portrayal? When the whole show just made it out like she mostly just sticks with the gang because of a guy?

I respect Be Cool for making Daphne the comic relief goofball because it's a new take that hasn't really been tried before. And it's a FAR more effective method of "modernizing" her character than turning her into Buffy Summers and having her karate chop her way out of danger (even as a kid, I thought the push to turn Daphne into Buffy back in the 90s was ridiculous).
And really, those fans need to realize that SDMI was meant to be it's own thing, and setting it as the standard for every Scooby series or movie/special after (despite some nods in them) is just setting themselves up to be disappointed.
Exactly! I LOVE A Pup Named Scooby Doo and I fervently believe it's the best Scooby show that's ever been made. But I don't bash all the reboots that came after because the point of rebooting a series with a new creative team is to mix it up and change things. I wish more of the things I loved about Pup became elements in future shows (sadly, future shows only ran with the "Fred is dumb" thing without understanding WHY Dumbass-Fred worked in Pup's setting). But I don't hold it against future Scooby shows.
The saddest thing about MI is that it had the potential to be fantastic. Keeping the kids in one spooky tourist trap and giving them parents and families to answer to was a great idea (and a fun twist on the "these teenagers are driving all over the country unsupervised for some unknown reason" formula that most Scooby shows stuck to). And the romance thing could have been fun, too. But MI screwed it up by being so poorly written, pretentious, sexist, and inappropriate for the target audience that it's unlikely future reboots will be allowed to play around with a similar premise. And I think that's sad because a Scooby show focused on romance and/or family life would be interesting if a team of non-shitty (and non-sexist) writers handled it.

Same, and as Zac Moncrief (producer) put it, she's supposed to be an eccentric non-conformist, not an idiot. I also agree with you on how they tried turning Daphne into Buffy and giving her certain skills to make her look cool, but only stick for one movie/special or so.
The show did have a lot of potential, as you said with keeping the gang in one spooky tourist trap and giving them families to answer to, and I know a lot of fans have wanted to see more of their home/school life and so on. Still, the over-emphasis on romantic drama was terribly misguided IMO and as I stated before, the gang just didn't feel like friends to me. They tried to explain this with the evil force of the series causing them to act this way, but that in no way makes these negative interactions any easier to sit through. And the constant other excuse I see is that the gang is finally acting like "real, human teenagers".

Aside from the sexism and terrible romance, the lack of friendship was the worst thing about MI. Even the "bad" Scooby shows at least TRIED to make you believe the gang cared about one another and were actual friends. MI never gave any good reason WHY the gang put up with each other (aside from Velma and Daphne obsessively chasing Shaggy and Fred's penises)
Funny Story: One time a friend and I tried to figure out if MI passed the Bechdel Test. We realized that, throughout season one and most of season two, the ONLY time Velma and Daphne talked to each other about something other than boys/romance was when they had a discussion about manure.
I think that pretty much sums up all the problems with MI (and it's massacring of the female leads) in a nutshell.
And the constant other excuse I see is that the gang is finally acting like "real, human teenagers".
LOL. I don't know what G-d forsaken high school those people went to. But when I was a teenager; I never saw any friendships as toxic as the ones in MI (even among the shallow asshole kids). I really hope kids haven't become that awful since I graduated!
