I definitely like your Draco better. You get the weasel-y vibe from him without him actually looking like a weasel. How they managed to do that to Tom Felton as Draco, when he has none of that quality without the bleached hair, is beyond me.

Yes, I think Tom Felton did a great job with the character as it was written. Again, as with the Twins, film-Draco is lacking, when compared with the books.

To be honest, I think HP films are not the best example of film adaptation out there. Of course you have worse, so much worse, but still...
I'm a pragmatist when it comes to adapting novels for the silver screen - those two are very different media and there are changes and sacrifices that need to be done in order to "translate" the story and its spirit as accurately as possible,
but some of the changes in the films are just not... right

I absolutely agree. The first one I bothered to see in theaters I regretted seeing for all the stuf they cut out (the fifth one). I mean, the introduction to the asylum, every bit of Dobby's role in the movie... it was just off on so many levels. At least Umbridge was cast well.

I remember that for years I couldn't bring myself to watch the first 2 films after having seen them when they were in cinemas. I hated them!!
PoA was better as an adaptation and darker, as the book is, and GoF followed on the right track (imho, of course!), but OotP was simply terrible, dreadful - as a film and as an adaptation.
I know a lot of people don't like HBP that much, and it's considered one of the most mediocre films of the saga - but I just love it since it focuses more on Draco (at last!), the quest for the Horrocruxes begins and the deeper insight into Snape's character.

Though I can't help but loving Joe Walker's Umbridge... Is that just me?

And I fully agree with you, on all points. One of my friends refuses to watch the movies beyond the second because of those first two, even though I continue to tell her the third and fourth aren't that bad. The fact that Cedric's death was actually able to make my cry was saying something, considering I've seen it a dozen times and it still does (oh gawd his father Q_Q).

I do adore the sixth movie. I saw that in theaters as well, and still have my ticket stub laying around somewhere. I went with my ex, who had never read the books so he had no idea what was going to happen, but still knew whenever I hid my face in his arm that something bad was going to happen. When I started pouting when Draco was on screen because I felt terrible for him, he knew it involved him. It was lolworthy, at the time.

And is it just me, or is Helena Bonham Carter severely annoying as Bellatrix Lestrange? I couldn't even be mad at her for killing Sirius because she was just so... goddam... irritating...

I think Helena Bonham-Carter is a superb actress, esp. when she plays histrionic, perky, out-of-the-ordinary characters. I think she played film-Bellatrix beautifully, that is, she did a great job with the character as it was written (once again, we go back to book vs. film). I understand a lot of people can find her irritating, but I don't think she's to blame, just the screenplay.

Joe Walker... is that one of the actors from the HP musical? Haven't seen it.

I adore her, I just don't remember Bellatrix being that... y'know... hyper? But then again I haven't read the fifth book on in a long time. I really should, since those are the ones I have, and you can only read Pride & Prejudice so many times in one year before you need something else. I'll have to go back and read them just so I don't sound like an uneducated twit.

And the musical is hilarious, if so anti-canon it makes your head explode. Nothing is really followed, beyond the Triwizard tournament. And even that's meh. But Joe Walker plays Umbridge in the sequel, and it's utterly hilarious. The way they spoof HP is actually kind of clever, like doing fan service to Dramione fans, even if they stick to the canon Hermione/Ron (and even though Draco is played by a woman, she nails it). It's definitely worth checking out.

I've heard of the musical, but I haven't watch it yet - I might do that during Xmas, so I can watch it with my best friend - another HP fan.

Yus, you must see the musical. I know very few HP fans who haven't loved it. Joe Walker as Voldemort in the first one was impeccable, throughout. It was hilarious, and creatively written. I think you'll enjoy it.
