Description My latest sketch entry. I didn't really know anything about Howard the Duck when I started this, but after a ton of research on wikipedia, I learned about an issue where he learned the ancient eastern secrets of Quack-Fu, so that was where I drew my inspiration. Obviously, as was the case in the comic in which this story appeared, his costume is largely inspired by Shang Chi, Master of Kung-Fu.

Pencil, ink, gray and red marker, with just a few touches of white ink for highlights.

Alright, the obvious joke should've been Tai Quack Do, but we'll let it slide.

I have been collecting the original art of Howard the Duck for over 35 years and can state that is a GREAT take on Howard.

Thank you very much! Thirty-five years covers a lot of great artists, so I'm very flattered. That made my day.

You know, I woudln't be suprised if Mike Haggar and Howard the Duck were announced at the same time for Marvel vs Capcom 3.

That's kind of cool! I hadn't heard about the possibility of either of those guys showing up until you posted this. That could be very cool...but they'd have to go with the whole Quack-Fu thing with Howard the Duck.

Thanks!

You know, funny thing about that is both Mike Haggar and Howard were former wrestlers, and both are affiliated with politics. Howard ran for president, and Mike Haggar was elected mayor. They'd be awesome in-game rivals, like how Trish and Super Skrull are.

Nice work- I love the use of hatching and black/white/grey coloring (and the red sash). Quack-Fu should be taught in all those kids' karate classes

I really dig on the dramatic lighting you've got going on. Shadows are so often misused or overused. This is really refreshing

Hey, thanks very much for the comments. I wanted something to fit the slightly dramatic (melodramatic?) mood.

Haha, that's the most vicious duck I've ever seen. Oh surprise... This is just comical, because it's so real, kind of like that Calvin and Hobbes strip with Susie and Calvin playing house and she brings home a baby rabbit. *ramble* Anyways, great pose, I love how the clothing turned out, the sash looks marvelous, and the billowing sleeve is such a great effect!
