Digital painting done in Painter X3.
This is a memory painting from last August visiting my daughter and grandson in Oregon. We had gone to the beach three days in a row but the first two days the coastline was enveloped in fog. When the warm dry air of the land meets the cool moist air of the Pacific ocean a ribbon of fog is created. On the third day a light wind blowing from the land towards the sea push the fog bank back out over the ocean. It could be clearly seen several miles out to sea the day we visited the coast with my daughter's family. The last beach we visited I stayed up on a bluff to take pictures of the entire beach. Standing amongst the dune grasses looking down upon the water has definitely made an impression on me and hence this painting. The details are rather vague but since it was a painting from my imagination I have some latitude in the creation of the different elements. The assignment was to follow a specific technical step-by-step painting process using different techniques and brushes. My son-in-law and my three-year-old grandson are the subjects on the beach.
Assignment completed for an online digital painting class from Digital Art Academy with instructor Aaron Rutten .You can learn more about Aaron and his work on his website: www.aaronrutten.com/
