"Come in air command, this is Stkt B.Ver of the Ette Tana light infantry brigade, we've encountered an insurgent strong point in the trees north of our position, at Waypoint Alesha-Braeve-Zero-Niner! Requesting air support, over!"

"Roger Stkt B.Ver, this is air command, request received. Close air support is on its way, over!"

Brijeka lowered her radio and watched as two CM. 175 Te swooped down low over the patch of jungle where the enemy was holed up, whistling and shrieking like a pair of demonic flutes. The lead jet released two silver cannisters which tumbled end over end then burst amongst the foliage, unleashing a great torrent of flame and smoke the welled up into the sky with a great thud. A wave of heat washed over Brijeka's face, making the warm, tropical air feel pleasantly cool by comparison. Then the second jet passed over, strafing the position with its guns.

Brijeka raised her radio again.

"Come in air command, this is B.Ver, it's a right barbecue down here. Thanks for the assistance. Over and out."

"No worries, B.Ver, over and out."

The second jet made another low pass, dropping its own napalm cannisters over the last little patch of jungle that had yet to be burnt to a crisp. Fire and smoke once roared up into the sky as the jets departed.

"Boy am I glad I ain't one of them commies..." a nearby soldier mused as the jungle burned.

So I was thinking about Inktober and today's prompt was 'radio' so I ended up drawing this scene. Brijeka's also looking a bit buffer than normal so maybe it can count for yesterday's prompt, 'bulky', too? Dunno how many other Inktobers I'll do. Depends how I'm feeling and how much uni work I have.

As for the story, it's Tempians fighting miscellaneous communists somewhere in the Asia-Pacific region during the Cold War. Not gonna specify exactly where it is so as not to shit on any country in particular like what a lot of alt-history stuff has a tendency to do. And please don't jump to the conclusion that it's Vietnam even if it is rather 'Nam-esque...

The Cm. 175 Te is a Tempian license production of the CM. 175 Zephyr which is in turn a carrier capable variant of the CM. 170 Magister used by the French navy. The Tempian version is equipped with a more powerful engine, allowing it to carry a slightly larger payload (e.g. the napalm cannisters).
