I was thinking the same thing. I am very involved in the bone and taxidermy community but I only use animals that died naturally in my work. These foxes look like they suffered on a ranch before being killed for fur. Also, hunting for "population control" is not respectable either. It's basically human justification for killing either to keep predators off of their property or for killing only for fur.Β
Also, I see you are studying bio! I am in biological anthropology! We should chat sometime.

I was genuinely curious, thanks. But how can you stand not having a sure knowledge of how they were killed?

I absolutely do not like the idea of animals suffering either, which is why I am glad they were taken quickly, without time to feel any suffering or pain. Honestly, it's the whole idea behind euthanasia with our pets- if they have a terminal and painful condition that will not improve, many people feel the most humane thing is to take the pet and be with him/her as his/her suffering is ended quietly, quickly, and painlessly.Β That doesn't change the fact that it is an immensely painful process for the pet owner, but they do it out of love for their pet.
Even in the animal world, animals kill each other.Β Wolves hunt caribou for food.Β Male lions will kill a female's cubs in a pride if he wins a fight with the previous residing male.Β Male deer and other large male horned ungulates can and do mortally wound each other in battle during the rut season- which often ends in a death that is slow and painful (bleeding out, bacterial infection, etc.) unless a predator comes along and puts the poor thing out of it's misery.Β These are just a few examples.
My childhood cat was actually killed very ferociously by some neighborhood dogs that had escaped; they came onto our property and ripped him in half.Β My mom heard the initial barking/hissing and was unfortunate enough to witness this happen, but it was too late by the time she got outside (and let me tell you, she got out there FAST).Β I was really upset about this for a really long time, but in the end I found comfort in the fact that he went quickly, and therefor did not feel too much pain.Β He was an older cat and he had had a long, beautiful life with us.Β I wish his death could have been more peaceful, but I am glad that it was at least fast and not drawn out like some sort of painful malignant cancer.
As for your point on humans killing humans is considered murder, but humans killing animals is not, I suppose it has to do with man's history and tradition. Our ancestors hunted their own food, and in colder climates furbearing animals were hunted for their insulating coats.Β Today, our society is very far removed from that- we have someone else slaughter and package our cows and pigs for us, we buy already made garments and blankets.Β We work for our things today by having a job that gives us money so we can pay people to both prepare and stock these things for us- not by going out and getting them/preparing them ourselves.Β Many people have lost connection to the outdoors, nature, and the natural cycle of life.Β If you were stuck in some remote wilderness area in Alaska, your views on hunting might change- they'd have to if you wanted to survive

Three artists, three distinctly different faces.Β Each of them correct but not the same.Β I am to the point where I can name the artist by the face almost every time.Β You have three fantastic examples no doubt!

I am starting to notice Katie does her ears a bit different, Nemi's noses are his trademark, and a few other differences that I'm able to pick up on.Β Yes, you'll have to add one of Leslies to the crew.
