This outfit was so difficult to design. akldjklfhilknJHIRAL. WHY YOU WEAR DIFFICULT-TO-DRAW COMBAT SUITS?
Anyways, yeah. I felt like drawing Jhiral again. c: And her tattoos are not redesigned, there are just more of them, because this is like, five years following her . . . other design.
Yeah.
And I seriously couldn't do any more shading on this than what's on it, because it didn't look right. xD I don't know why, but it just . . . didn't.
Blargh.
And yes, I cheaped out on the background. Ahh, well. LOL.

Okay first off, the creature looks pretty interesting. The lineart is also nicely done. But this picture definitely lacks depth. The biggest problem is the background, it's too dull and it does not accentuate the character. The character itself also has almost no shading, so it looks pretty flat. You should image a light source (let's say from the upper right corner) and then add some shadows. If the background is less dark and does not fill the whole image, the character would jump more from the page (here's a nice example of such a background [link] )
But all in all, keep practicing and never give up

Hm . . . Yes, I see what you mean. I'll take your advice to note next time I stick a background on something! And I might edit this one if I get some time.
