Yeah, dude. Seriously. I have no trust in Snyder at all. The man has no story telling ability and no sense of character. He's style over substance. Sucker Punch is a prime example of that.

And Cavill is just a toffee nosed ex-model.

I hear U...But you only stated one bad movie in a list of films he did.
If we go by that rubric there would be no body worthy to direct the film.
Is it not fair to wait and see?
Sucker Punch was not written by the people who
wrote Superman...am I right?
He is very much like the very talented ,Michael Bay,Tim Burton and others of the same ilk that set up great shots but lack fine beat story telling of a Billy Wilder, the Coen Brothers or Quentin Tarantino.
But in this case, Zack supposedly has a great script and a great producer watching over him.

So we will have to reserve judgment till the ending credits.

Ah, dude. I can't stand Michael Bay and the last film I enjoyed by Tim Burton was Sleepy Hollow. I dunno about Snyder, if I'm honest. I didn't like Dawn Of The Dead, Watchmen was a pretty flawed film, that Owl thing was pants, but I'm not really the demographic, I admit, and Sucker Punch... I couldn't watch it. It was just a bit... pervy. You know what I mean? I'm not dissing anyone for liking it at all. Some of my guilty pleasure films aren't the best by my own admission. But... hmmm.

I cross my fingers that it is a good script, but if I'm 100% honest, seriously, I'm not even going to give it a chance. There are too many films that I am SO excited for next year. But if I'm honest, I loved Superman Returns. Which may also be why I'm down on this one.

Nice to have a chat about films with someone. I'm a lone buff in my household.

Nah, man. Superman Returns was the first time I'd ever given a crap about the character. A character that is always invincible and all knowing is boring. In that film he was vulnerable because of his emotions and confused because he was, for the first time, a bit out of his depth. And the set pieces are amazing. The plane crashing. The bank robbery. A bloody bullet to the eye.

Fantastic.

And Routh was amazing. The only way I'd like to see Superman go after that is a straight out film adaption of Grant Morrison's All Star Superman. THAT would be truly remarkable.

Watchmen was too much like a music video. Snyder does my head in with the sssslllloooooooowwwww-speedup thing he always does for no narrative reason what so ever. He wussed out of the ending and it just felt so shallow and glossed over. And don't get me started on Sally Jupiter's rape. That should have been horrible. But instead it came over as "Well, she was begging for it really". That's just so wrong on so many levels.

Don't get me wrong, there were good bits. Namely Rorschach, The Comedian and Night Owl.

You didn't care about the character when Donner did him?
Wow.
Supes has never been played as "always invincible,all knowing" That is God and that is not boring niether is Superman.
Granted Superman has been written boring...but as a concept and idea...far from it.
Superman returns was wrong from the word Brian Singer.
He was on Donner's nuts so hard that U couldn't distinguish where Donner started and Singer began.
He made a lack luster " $uperman love story" which was really about an alien stalker.
Routh's acting was as wooden as Lincoln's log cabin.

I could go on and on about how bad that movie was and the
major plot holes...but I'm not trying to nuke this place
with my long didactic diatribes about Supes.

Zack's Watchmen is an acquired taste.
I thought it was great.....
I believe he improved the ending from the book.
Made more sense to me.

Dude, the old stalker reference to Returns is only one scene. You can't hang it on that. And it's not stalking. It shows someone racked with regret trying to reach out, but is unable to. Wondering if he should knock at the door, call, will he be wanted, is he needed. It's a scene of desperation and longing. Calling it stalking is like calling someone kissing their dead loved on on the cheek necrophilia.

I liked the one Reeve film, the first one by Donner. But what came after tainted them for me. But I was always more of a Batman fan, ha.

I love Superman Returns though. Even Lex Luthor is a nasty bastard in the scene where he shivs Supes with Kriptonite and snaps it off. Nasty.

If I'm honest, nobody has done a proper Superman film yet. It needs to be unabridged sci-fi. Like the aforementioned Morrison book, All Star. Things like Brainiac, Dr. Quintum, Atlas & Samson and Luthor in a dorky green / purple mech suit.

I just don't trust Snyder. The man disappoints all the time.
