thanks a lot for the message. Can i ask from what material you cast them? right now i'm not into much money but as soon as i have 300$ for art, i will let you know cause its simply wonderful.By the way i am also creating little buildings/houses/castles ,something like Lilliput lane if you know them, i am using plaster(dentist type grade 3) but its very fragile...i don;t know what king of resin i should use to look like plaster/concrete but to have a very good strength...and of course not to have bubbles when casting... Oh and one more curiosity that i have, how long does it take you to finish a model? like the angel type?Thank you so so much! you are such a great perfectionist with your work and creations, truly a master from whom i would deeply appreciate to receive some tips! thanks a lot!

I use apoxy sculpt putty, from AVES. It is a soft putty that you mix equal amounts of by kneading it together for a couple minutes. After that you have a two hour work time before it hardens. So I have to do small areas at a time and make certain everything is smoothed or shaped the way I require. After the piece is done it is harder than clay and can take more stress. I then mold the piece and make reproductions out of resin. For a project like yours, small buildings, I might suggest you look at the molds this website sells. It is geared toward building diorama's. [link] you could use resin or apoxy sculpt in the molds. But you would just want to clean the molds well after every use with apoxy sculpt.
How long it takes me to make a sculpture is a hard question. I normally work on a series of sculptures at one time. I currently have 6 or 7 going. I jump back and forth between them. As one drys I start on another. I could produce a single statue in about three weeks if I concentrated just on that piece. As is, it usually takes me a good 8 weeks or so to complete a statue (given I work for a living also).
I very much appreciate you kind compliments. I hope my tips help. Feel free to ask me further should you wish. I don't mind! Best Regards - Robert

thanks a lot! and last question, is your talent all natural? or you finished some art school? you get all the body proportions so right and everything that is hard for me to imagine that you just learned all by yourself...keep up the good work! i just love all you do! do you use a degausser pomp to get rid of all the bubbles from the silicone when creating the mould? Thanks!

I should also add, that I studied one year in Firenze, Italia but that was a wide array of studies, ancient history, political science, as well as art. I studied sculpture while I was there, but the art I did was still drawing at the time!

A faun may just be in my future sculpting list. Have actually been considering a faun for quite sometime and just never got around to it. I appreciate the kind compliment!

I definitely second that about the faun, but would love to see you do a satyr as they are far more robust and interesting visually and sexually.

Thank you so much for the kind compliment! I appreciate your interest in my art work. This piece sold long ago, but I took separate molds of his body and wings and can recreate him fairly easily. Should I do so, I would be happy to let you know prior to posting the piece for sale. Many thanks! -Robert
