This story takes place a few years from today; the year being 2022. In this universe, there are no monsters, no inhuman beings, and no threats to people. Of course, other then humans themselves. With the power to turn everything off with one simple command in your head, the government had to take drastic measures to ensure the safety of those who still wished to be sane. Two groups now live among each other; one with fully sanity and emotions well the other has nothing but anger and the need to feel nothing; the Disowned and the Aptitude.

"And where do you think you're going young lady?" A voice called to you from the kitchen; faint clanging making the voice barely audible.

You threw on your jacket and tied your shoes, checking your hair and facial features in the mirror in the front entrance of your house. You hummed quietly and looked over when a person came into your peripheral vision. A smile appeared on your face and you fully turned to face your mother.

"Going to visit PJ, where else would I be going?" You joked, rolling your eyes.

Your mother chuckled softly and walked over, slightly leaning up and gently kissing your forehead. "Be good then, be home soon cause we're having dinner early and it's your favourite".

"Yes yes I know" You walked over to the door, a slight skip in your step as you swung it open and looked over your shoulder to your mother. "Love you ma'!" You called before shutting the door behind you.

Who knew that was the last time you'd ever say that to her.

Taking your keys from your pocket, you unlocked your car and got in. After a few minutes, you finally pulled out of the driveway and began driving to your boyfriends house. You and PJ had been dating for 2 years and in roughly a week was going to be your 3 year anniversary. You both had met at your best friends party after you spilled your beer on his shirt when you both accidentally bumped into each other. Ever since, you and PJ have always been together.

Before you knew it, you were parked in his driveway with a large smile on your face. Letting out a soft breath, your gaze trailed over the house and ended on the front door as you got out and quickly walked to. Knocking several times, you tapped your foot on the ground and waited. Loud footsteps grew closer to the door and it slowly opened and there he stood. His short curly brown hair was a mess and he looked flustered.

"Hey!" You said happily, going to step forward to kiss him.

But just at that moment, another set of footsteps sounded behind him and you looked over his shoulder, only for your smile to slowly slip from your face. "Baby what are you doing?" A feminine voice came with the footsteps as a woman turned the corner and finally came into your view.

"(Y/n)..." PJ started saying, regret and guilt sounding from his almost inaudible voice.

You suddenly let out a shaky breath, not noticing you were holding it in the first place and quickly left, listening to your once beloved call your name and pleaded for you to stop and let him explain. Quickly getting into your vehicle, you didn't dare look to him as you pulled out of the driveway and left; much faster then you realized.

Your mind was buzzing and you felt light, like you could just float away at any given moment. You didn't even notice you had pulled over on the side of an unfamiliar road until tears you had been holding back suddenly slipped down your cheeks and to your lap. Shutting your eyes for a few moments, only the sounds of several cars passing by distracted you from your thoughts and the scene that so wished to replay in your head.

Reopening your blurry gaze, you breathed out heavily and shakily, wiping your eyes and grabbing your phone. Looking at PJ's contact, you erased it from your phone and then tossed the cellular device into the passenger seat.

Nobody would care at what you were about to do.

He wouldn't care.

He obviously doesn't care for you or anything about you.

It's rather obvious since he was sleeping around with another woman; for who knows how long.

Leaning back in your seat slightly, you felt your eyes shut slowly and the world around you grew quiet. It was peaceful honestly. Something you never would've guessed. That crushing feeling in your chest that had been attacking you since you seen her, was suddenly gone and it felt as if you could do anything in this moment. The feeling of wanting to cry and scream and hit something vanished as well. Everything you had ever known was slipping from your mind and it felt amazing.

You didn't know how long you had been sitting there like that because when you finally came back to reality it was dark and street lamps were on; the odd person walking down the street. Grabbing your phone, the time read 10:42pm and you had several texts from your mom, Charlie; your best friend, and a few missed calls. Simply letting out a shallow breath, you dropped your phone once more and started the car, driving off.

No thoughts ran through your head. No feelings. Nothing. You didn't care that your mother was worried about you or that your friend had to speak with you about 'drama'. You didn't care that PJ slept with that woman and you could care less if she was still there.

A small smirk grew on your lips as you slightly sped up.

Who knew that having your emotions and everything turned off made you feel so alive.

Wow, you didn't disappoint with this chapter!  It was really good and I like how you describe the freedom that comes with "turning everything off."  Excellent work my friend!
