Ahhh, Springtime! Many are the signs of the return of warmer weather to Batesville. The birds, recently returned from their winter sojourn in tropical Pedesamia, are chirping away sweetly. The new spring crocuses and daffodils in their vibrant colors, a gentle soft breeze in the air all point to the coming warm weather. But the surest sign of spring is to be found when the Dimitropoulos twins Barbara and Cheryl leave school on such days. Smartly dressed in their school uniforms, it is inevitable that one of the twins, (Barbara) will pull off her shoes and socks and walk home barefooted while the other twin, (Cheryl) will keep her school shoes and socks on all the way home. The two identical girls alike in every way except for the dressed state of their feet walking home from school is the absolutely definitive sign of spring for all the admiring citizens of Batesville!
