Not that I know of, but in the Godzilla film series where this came from, they did put it in several of their flying special weapons platforms.

You mean "Frankenstein Conquers the World"? In that one, he squares off against Baragon.

I never recall her being targeted by an actual Maser Cannon. There was the Atomic Heat Ray from that Mothra 1961 film, but...

The only film where any of these worked to any effect was War of the Gargantuas( and the two do actually have real names). Major kudos for knowing the JSDF names for the Heisi era ones.

Yeah. They were just in the films for the flashiness. Wouldn't have a good Godzilla film if they actually work...
Thanks!

Not to worry - the only thing it's going to be pointing at is Godzilla, or just about any other kaiju, with mixed results.

And if those doesn't work, they'll be even more shocked when they meet M.O.G.U.E.R.A., or Mecha-godzilla 3 Kiryu.

Kiryu pilot: [Piloting from one of the AC-3 White Herons aircrafts] "Concussion missiles armed. Firing solutions: Acquired! Engaging!"
[The two forward missile pods, as well as the two pairs at Kiryu's backpack, launch their salvos of missiles towards the massive equine]

[The soldiers of the JSDF and the Anti-Megalosaurus Force watches as the missiles detonated all around BIG!Rarity, enveloping her with plumes of smoke and dust from explosions that rocked the evacuated streets of Osaka]
JSDF recon unit: "Direct hits! Target is down! Target is down!"
AMF commander: [From an AMF command post in Tokyo] "What is the status of the target? Is it badly wounded?"
JSDF recon unit: "Stand-by..." [They spot the giant equine as the clouds clears away...] "Negative, negative! Target sustained only minor damage on its hide! Target is creating some form of... energy field from its horn, surrounding its whole body. Target is however showing distress..."
AMF Scientist: [Watching from a screen] "Incredible! The giant horse creature may look like it's whinnying, but from complex energy construct, the facial expressions, and the complex lip and ear movements, like it's speaking some complex language; that thing could be intelligent!"
AMF commander: "Intelligent huh? Damn. If Mothra wasn't helping Godzilla dealing with those two monsters down in San Francisco, we could have asked the Shobijin to speak with it and convince the creature to leave."
AMF Kiryu pilot: "Should I engage with the mouth-maser, sir?"
AMF commander: "Negative; you only have one and a half hour's worth of power reserves left. Conserve energy for now. Have our Maser Cannons on the ground fire on the equine."
JSDF general: "Commander, we have confirmed the AMF Masers batteries are opening fire on the creature. JSDF armor and artillery will be moving in to assist."
AMF commander: "Excellent." [To Kiryu pilot] "Pilot, empty the missile batteries on the creature, and then engage with Kiryu's arm lasers. Move forward with the covering fire, and as soon as we wear down the creature's shield, prepare to engage with the Absolute Zero cannon!"

That's the entire point of Toho's Godzilla franchise; kaijus are not just portrayed as gigantic nuclear creatures, they are nature's wrath incarnate, summoned forth or provoked by Humanity's own arrogance and monstrosity. We can't reason with nature, only get out of their way and hope for the best. Humanity meanwhile is portrayed as inherently self-destructive, often causing as much problems, if not more, as the those which they try to fix, such as Humanity's rampant abuse of nature and use of nuclear weaponry.
Godzilla was originally meant to be a walking nuclear disaster, that could only be stopped by a humans causing an even WORSE artificial disaster.

Ah. Yeah, I remember that. To be perfectly honest, I agree for the most part. I still think that would be a good speech for the sequel to Godzilla 2014.
