Sly Cooper is a master thief who can trace his legacy through thousands of years of legendary thieves, including his Feudal Japanese ancestor Rioichi Cooper, gallantrous knight Sir Galleth Cooper, and gun-slinging cowboy "Tennessee Kid" Cooper. All of the Coopers' awesome heists and thieving techniques have been written down in a book called the 'Thievius Raccoonus', which had been stolen from his family by a ruthless gang named the Fiendish Five. Ten years after being moved into an orphanage, he and his friends Bentley (the brains) and Murray (the brawn) became incredible thieves who stayed one step ahead of Carmelita Montoya Fox, a cop who's been Sly's love interest for a long time. After recovering the Thievius Raccoonus from the Fiendish Five, Sly's gang became one of the most feared and doggedly chased after thieves the world over.

Sly prefers stealth, thievery and confusion to actual CQC work, but isn't above getting his family cane dirty, and he has a similar policy with his Vivosaurs. His team consists of a Breme, a master thief among Vivosaurs, a Sopteryx for confusion prowess and a V-Ripper in case things get messy. Don't expect to fight him often, though; he'd rather not fight someone without good reason.
