This is a great picture, made even better with the Godzilla from my childhood! I always watched "Mothra vs. Godzilla" and "Ghidorah the Three-headed Monster" with the Mosu-Goji suit (used in both movies) has always been one of my favorite suits due to it being the Godzilla that I grew up with. This picture reminds me of Godzilla destroying the pagoda when he looses his footing due to the moat.
I really need to pick up the memorial box figure of this suit.

This is great! Godzilla was at his most evil in this movie until GMK in 2001. Love the Kimono Girl running away too

Gotta agree that the '64 Goji is among the best looking. It almost looks like a traditional yokai, especially in the quasi-mammalian face. And the angry scowl is very iconic to his overall character, and not merely because he was the film's villain!

'Love it. 'Just love it. Only real critique is that Godzilla has five fingers here instead of the usual four, but, other than that, this is great stuff.

This is awesome! Looks exactly like the actual suit! Your description is also spot on about how badass this suit looks. This suit was nice, they used it twice! First in Godzilla vs. Mothra then in Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster!

Yeah I've heard it was the same suit in "Ghidorah". But I had seen that film many times also, and never knew that trivia fact until someone told me. From further reading, my understanding is that when they decided to re-use the awesome 64 Godzilla suit the following year in "Ghidorah", the head was so badly damaged, they had to almost completely rebuild or replace it. So it's technically the same suit from the neck down... but the head is so completely changed that you cant even recognize it.

Thank you! Oh yes, the GMK Godzilla is my other big favorite. I will probably have to draw that version too, one of these days.

Or better still, Godzilla at his usual size, fighting a ginormous Kimono Girl! That could be interesting, as well as a tribute to ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN

I used to hate this as a kid because Godzilla (who I thought was the good guy) loses to those Mothra larvae!
Now I see that it is one of the better ones with great pacing,FX, action and atmosphere. To have a giant Moth
be so powerful like a god has to be from japanese folklore and the mournful singing of the little 'peanuts' give it that gravitas you see in the 60's Toho. They do not make films like that anymore (a common lament for us classic horror guys!lol!)
Man, you need to do War of the Gargantuas!

Oh yeah, War of the Gargantuans is an old favorite of mine!

Oh man I forgot that, the total opposite of the little twins singing. The only light part in the otherwise grim Gargantua film, thank goodness the green gargantua came in and saved the audience. That scene where he attacks the airport and scarfs up the cleaning lady gave me nightmares!
One of the things I appreciate in the 60's Toho movies now is the utter apocalyptic seriousness of it (and the music soundtracks. I need to get a disc of that music.)
I take it you also dug Frankenstein conquers the World?

Haha! How true! You are absolutely right about the tone of 60's Toho. That's what makes them so lovable. The delivery of stories and images that are so crazy and ridiculous, presented with such deadly seriousness! I love that. Haha.
That said..
I have to be honest and admit… no, I was/am not a fan of "Frankenstein Conquers the World". Even as a kid my brain rejected that movie. I had already watched the Universal Frankenstein movies a million times on TV by then, and accepted the Universal/Karloff/Glenn Strange version as "the real" Frankenstein. So when I finally ran across "Frankenstein Conquers the World" a couple years later, my reaction was just an automatic: "NOOO!!! That's not Frankenstein!!" …And I've never been able to get over it.
If they had titled that movie, "Giant Goofy Guy Conquers the World", I probably would have been fine with it. But just the audacity of that film trying to tell me it's got anything to do with Frankenstein, makes me incapable of accepting it!!
What can I say, I took my monster movies seriously when I was a kid. Haha.

Ha! Fair enough. love how bizarre and over the top that film is. Also was confused that this was Frankenstein but I just was rooting him on when he was beating the living hell out of Baragon. I get pumped when he puts his fists up in defiance as he sinks into the earth.
Im glad they cut the octopus scene, it makes no sense even in a movie like that where you suspend disbelief already and it sort of steals Frank's victory at the end.
And I also am a big Nick Adams fan so..the guy was so scrappy!
How bout Atragon where Imperial Japanese military guys save the world? Or Gorath where
they move the earth with rockets to avoid a massive meteor or The Last War where the earth is destroyed by humans? And Attack of the Mushroom people!
There was nothing like these films with these insane type stories!
