SQUEE!!! MY BELOVED SHADOW!!!
I call Richard Matheson "Shadow" as a joke because that's what Richard's cousin called him when Richard was a little boy.

I have this one on DVD. Very well done, very dark film.
I also like the movie version of Matheson's Hell House, and Duel (read that one in high school -- amazing story!).

It's unfortunate this film is so overlooked, as Price is truly mesmerising. For a bloke known mostly for tongue and cheek scenery chewing he gives a deeply moving, emotional performance, which you did a great job capturing in his expression.

Well, I see nobody had done any pic based on Fox-TV's THE LAST MAN ON EARTH which debuted 3-1-2015. Like a prior offering about a small colony of humans, the sole survivors of an all-out thermonuclear war, it soon became - garbage !A failure and will be gone in a few months.
The man finally found in episode 2, a woman, the last WOMAN on earth, but they were arguing all the time. In the middle of one quarrel, I turned off the set. I have not forgiven FOX for some of the things they pulled: football games pre-empting shows, etc., and most recently, running these damn reality shows. I would like to see more episodes of BONES and SLEEPY HOLLOW. GOTHAM I don't care about.

Shaun of the Dead has a scene where Shaun's loving mother instructs him as she is succumbing to the bite of a zombie,to kill her once she has "turned". She will not know him, once that happens, will have no memory of him, and will see him as food. He has to force himself to do the deed.

Awesome, as usual. Just saw this flick for the first time. I've always favored ol Chuck's version but there's no denying how damn good this film is.

Heart-wrenching scene, great job! Vincent Price was THE MAN! When I was in high school literature, we listened to records (am I dating myself or what) of the works of Edgar Allen Poe, read by Vincent Price. Doesn't get much better!

Yeah Vincent Price had an amazing screen presence and voice.
All the Edgar Allan Poe - inspired horror films he starred in for Roger Corman in the 1960's are great, too.
I keep telling myself I need to draw a tribute to "The Haunted Palace" one of these days.
Thanks for commenting!

A very under rated movie, pity Matheson sued to have his name removed.... Guess if he eversaw any of the other attempts he cringe at how bad it could have been. Great inking.

Yeah I know, it's strange. I have heard many times that Matheson was no fan of this movie but I've never read any comprehensive explanation of exactly what his complaints were. I would be very interested to know... because I like his novel and I think this film is brilliant.
Oh and thanks for your comments!

Might have something to do with the ending... it was a little more definite then the written version it think. The movie version having him killed in raid by the new civilization. but yeah never was any real context for it.
Then again the short story of the lawmower man was about some wood sprite or pan and not about VR. Sorry off topic.

That original version has been so unfairly overlooked over the years... it is nice people haven't forgotten it. VP has always been underestimated as an actor, and this plus his role in the classically campy Abominable Dr. Phibes and the bad guy in the serious and disturbing The Conquorer Worm (aka Witchfinder General) are among his best.
Like the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers, I agree you can't beat TLMonE for true fright. Thanks for the brilliant illustration. You capture the moment perfectly.

I was completely FLOORED by Vincent Price's performance in this movie. This and Edward Scissorhands were the films I where I actually got see him as an actor and not just hear his voice.
This one of my favorite works of yours, by far.
